Easter break

Reviewed By missswfc

Stayed here for three night as a Easter getaway, first time here and stayed in maple apartment. I’ll bullet point the good and bad things. Good points - [ ] Beautiful grounds, so tidy and clean - [ ] Apartment was ready when we got there and was very secure. - [ ] Great price especially for Easter weekend Bad points - [ ] Staff had double booked our apartment so ourself’s and another couple had to choose which one stayed and which one went to another site (down the road) and stay in a caravan - [ ] The electricity went off on the whole site every night we were there, on Sunday we were cooking Sunday lunch and we had to throw it all away and make a sandwich instead as power was off for over half an hour - [ ] There were only 2 plates, bowls, cups, glasses, knifes and forks so we were constantly washing them to use them What was supposed to be a relaxing weekend away turned into a little bit of a stressful time, but overall the place is very well kept.

A beautiful, quite and relaxing break

Reviewed By jbill2022

Me and my family have visited the chestnuts cottages quite a few times, in December we revisited for a weekend for the first time in many years. We visited as a family of 5, with 4 dogs and stayed in the Oak cottage. We have never been disappointed when coming here and have always have a wonderful time. The cottage was looked after and very cozy. when we arrived there was tea, coffee, sugars, and biscuits (which is always lovely). The cottage was roomy and not once did we feel cramped, even with our 4 dogs. The beds were comfy, and the bathrooms and kitchen are very spacious. There are also farm animas to see, such as pigs, horses, chickens, rabbits, and a small park for children to use. One downside was the pond, on a family walk we noticed that there was a lot of fish that had died, and were on the banks rotting, or floating at the top of the water, me and my family spotted at least 5 large dead carp. Another minor issue was that in one bedroom, the window didn't shut properly, this wouldn't of been a problem in spring/summer, however with it being December, it made us rather chilly due to the cold draft. I would definitely recommend staying in one of these wonderful cottages, we have stayed in many of them and all are beautiful. This is a great place to visit if you want a peaceful relaxing break.

Home Farm Park - Luxury Lodges

This is a new park for us the 4 acre fishing lake is set in a well manicured grounds down a very quiet country lane. We are less than a mile away from the picturesque market town of Burgh-le-Marsh and 5 miles from Skegness. Offering the best of coast and country, our Lincolnshire holiday park is located only a few miles from the popular seaside town of Skegness, but is also far enough away to escape and relax. Currently we have lodges available for holiday rental all with individual Hot Tubs in their decking. The lodges are all either 2 bedroom which sleeps 4 or 3 bedroom sleeping 6. For the next season we will also have our rebuilt farm cottage and a number of apartments available to rent.

Third time in Lavender and another great stay

Reviewed By helenmoc

This is our third time at home farm park, and our third time staying in the converted barn Lavender. We stayed here last June, again in December with friends and this time with family. It has three bedrooms and a mezzanine with a sofa bed. On arrival this time was a lovely welcome message and a fruit loaf which was a nice touch. There were some games also and the pool table is great. The property is clean, well stocked with all the kitchen essentials that you need and has shower gel and hand wash in all the en suite bathrooms. We have been lucky with the weather again this time so get to sit outside on the patio with its lovely furniture. There is also a table outside the front in the courtyard which in the sun is lovely to sit early evening. They are building a reception/ shop as you enter the grounds which looks quite big and apparently have just had permission to build three more cottages as well which will be lovely. There are lots of holiday home plots overlooking the lake that are being developed further up the park. On Friday we visited the windmill restaurant in the village as we went there in December and again have had a lovely meal and great service. Home farm park doesn’t have anything on site, ie no bar/restaurant or play area for children which maybe in time they may consider? But regardless of that it is fine for us as my little one brings his bike and can ride around and we have the hot tub and can take him into Skegness to the beach and arcades etc. It is such a calming place here and there are three donkeys on site that are lovely. If you want somewhere with entertainment swimming pool etc it’s not the place but if you want a chilled weekend to get away from the hustle and bustle def book here. Would we stay here again, yes obviously haha. Only thing that I would ask for and I mentioned this previously was some hangers poss to hang towels in the bathrooms as we have been hanging them over the bedroom doors, (outside when warm to dry them) and maybe a floor length mirror in the bedrooms. There could be more furniture in the bedrooms but to be honest for a weekend stay I don’t mind using the hangers provided maybe for a week you would need more storage for clothes etc. I read some reviews re the noise from other properties next to us, this hasn’t affected us when we have stayed. Also there was no smell as I have previously read. There was a bit of one in December when we stayed but only when we checked in it disappeared over the weekend and this weekend no bad smells only lovely smelling air fresheners. If there was an issue I think it’s been sorted. Each time we have stayed here we have enjoyed it, thank you home farm park for another lovely relaxing stay. We will be back.

Restricted access to parking and issues regarding covid cleanliness

Reviewed By sueeI996RV

The property itself is visibly clean and well equipped in a central location with lots of local shops and restaurants etc. However, the property is not, in my opinion, covid safe - It is full of unnecessary and non essential items which would either not be possible to clean or not clean throughly in the time available between holiday makers - eg soft furnishings, dried flowers, and every surface covered in ornaments and pictures on every wall. Whilst these may make the property feel homely to some, it provoked covid anxiety in me which promoted me to take covid tests for the first 3 days. The mattress was also like sleeping on a trampoline which meant neither me nor my husband got a decent night's sleep whilst we were there. The 3rd issue I would have is that whilst private parking is usually a bonus, the access to the court yard is very restricted and limited with a low brick wall, a drop on one side of the approach, concrete bollards and a neighbours large car further restricting the access. Whilst trying to avoid the neighbours car we scratched our BRAND NEW 2021 CAR on the low wall costing us £150 to repair. It is only a small car (Suzuki swift) and we struggled. I certainly would not recommend this property to anyone with at larger car. Overall I would give this property a 5/10.
