Bucharest Bed and Breakfast Inns | Places to Stay in Bucharest

Vlad the Impaler stated his claim to Bucharest in 1459. His citadel on the Dambovita was the first of flotillas of palaces, many of which still stand. Four subway lines and a modern bus network transport visitors and commuters. Nicknamed "Little Paris", Bucharest's elegant early 20th-century architecture shows French influences. Don't miss the Village Museum, Romanian Athenaeum and the Peasant Museum. You can't miss the Palace of Parliament, the second-largest building in the world (after the Pentagon).

Lovely hotel

If you really have to go to Bucharest, and to be honest as a city it doesn't have a lot going for it, then you should stay at the Scala. The building is very attractive and well maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Concerto Suite, which was huge! It takes up the whole of the top floor. There is plenty of nice furniture and good storage. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice, and the dining room is attractive. Unfortunately the restaurant is not currently open, which is a shame.

Stayed for few nights, breakfast was same every day freshly prepared for us in the morning. The receptionist made us breakfast once very early as we had an excursion so that was very nice of him. Room was kept clean but under the bed was dusty. The corner of the room had a massive hole, not sure why it wasn't repaired or covered, it was unacceptable and we felt that some animal might come through. Hotel was far out from square, I didn't feel very safe at night walking to hotel. There was a tram but we found that driver opens whichever door he wants so we ended up missing our stop. We found that transport and mainly buying tickets was a real problem as there was transport but to buy tickets we had a 20 minute walk to the square each morning. I will stay somewhere central instead. No lift in the hotel. We had to leave the key in reception every day.

Filthy Hot Tub, I got sick!

Reviewed By C0wgirly

Rarely do I get this upset on a review, but after traveling home on 14 hours of flights miserably sick with salmonella, I want to warn others because I am very suspicious this hot tub was the cause. Let's start at the start: The front desk guy was very nice, but failed to tell us the water had been turned off in our building for several hours. How could you NOT mention that?! Anyhow, we went upstairs and used the bathroom only to discover the toilet wouldn't flush. Gross. What was good? The room was very pretty- not quite what you see in the photos- lots of carpet stains but still... we were impressed. Until we realized there were housekeeping issues. After sightseeing waiting for the water, we got in the hot tub. It didn't look great, a bit murky and didn't appear to have been cleaned but we were trying not to be uptight Americans. So we hopped in- great temp, cover was easy to remove, not bad until WHORLS OF HAIR BEGAN SURFACING. I am not a hot tub scientist, but I assume after many uses with humans with hair shedding those jets begin to sort of weave these hair blobs? I don't know but it was not our hair color and it was gross. Suddenly the "not perfectly clean" hot tub felt like a disgusting soup of germs. We got out and that was the end of the tub. We ordered dinner in from Uber Eats (which took FOREVER but was delish) and then realized our bed had no duvet and no sheets. Just an empty duvet cover and a scarf on it. By now the front desk was closed so we just dug around and found one buried in a cabinet and used that. It's a relatively quiet hotel, the rooms are pretty but heaven sake's get your heads around cleaning. I got salmonella and ended up on antibiotics sick as a dog all the way home and I believe that filthy hot tub is why. In all, if you stay here follow my advice: 1) get ready for carpet stains 2) go to your room, check everything for cleanliness and report issues immediately 3) be sure you have all your bedding I am hopeful we were a rare exception but this was the last night of our 2 week trip and it was ruined by a lack of care on the part of this hotel.

Climb every mountain

Reviewed By J Michael E

Let's start with full disclosure: I'm a reasonably fit almost almost seventy year old. I arrived at the hotel prior to a river cruise so my suitcase was bigger than a carry on. To get to the reception you have to climb one flight of iron stairs followed by two flights of a wooden winding staircase. The verdict? If it doesn't kill you it's well worth it. We were greeted by Roman, a friend of the owner who looks after the place like it's his own. We had a large, modern comfortable room which overlooked the inner courtyard-wonderfully quiet. Breakfast the next morning was substantial and delicious. Roman booked us a reliable and honest (apparently very rare in Bucharest) cab. Would I stay there again? Would I take a smaller suitcase? You bet!

Okay hotel for the price but strange

Reviewed By bronwynrev

When I arrived at Hotel Tranzzit there was absolutely nobody manning the desk. Granted, it was around 11pm, but the website lists no set check-in time limit (just that it begins at 2pm). I waited around 45 mins for someone to show up, and the person who did arrive was not very friendly or communicative. After some back and forth I was told that they had no record of my booking — however I had just received a phone call from them the day before (no message left) so they definitely had my information. The night receptionist showed me the personal information of everyone else staying there to ask if I was staying with those guests, which seemed like a breach of privacy. He asked if I had paid yet, and I said no, but he gave me the keys and let me into the room without paying. Very strange check-in experience. Overall, the room was not bad. Unfortunately I was in the room directly beside reception and you can hear absolutely everything, so I was awoken every day by the phone ringing or people chatting. The daytime receptionists were very friendly although did not speak English, and I made sure to pay for my stay in the morning. My room had one large bed, a closet, a bathroom, a window to an outdoor seating area, and a television — although I never tried the TV as you could hear everything from the lobby and vice versa. No hot water on the first day but the second day was fine. Soap and shower gel is included in the bathroom. No fridge or kettle in the room but there is a kitchen. Breakfast is not included but one coffee per day is allowed if you ask the reception to prepare it. Wi-fi is uncharacteristically spotty for Romania and would connect and disconnect every minute or so. The great thing about this place is not only price but location. You are only around 8 mins from Gara de Nord and there is a laundromat on the way as well. Lots of Mega Image grocery stores nearby and even a nice park. Metro, etc. are all located conveniently. It's very easy to walk to the Old City and the area with the Atheneum. Overall, I didn't hate my stay here. It was a bit awkward and strange but the daytime receptionists were very sweet and feigned being impressed with my almost-non-existent Romanian, hahaha. I would stay here again for one or two nights if I was travelling by train.

Simple accomodation for a short stay

Reviewed By mimi k

POSITION: Bus stop to airport (Piata Romana) few minutes away, train station reachable on foot. I booked it because there is a short and simple way to Ateneul Român concert hall. STUDIO: I booked a studio. In my country a studio for rent includes a small kitchen. Here it was not the case. It consisted of two bedrooms, very small bathroom and a room with fridge and coffee/tea device. The water only in a tiny washbasin in the bathroom. I stayed only one night so I did not mind that. To me the greater disadvantage is that all rooms were oriented toward a skylight. The equipment of the studio was basic. I missed a glass. There was only two cups. I was solo. I do not know for how many people this studio is rented because it has two bedrooms. Except big beds otherwise there are very little free room around. I was solo so I could have open window in the second bedroom. If both bedrooms were occupied that would be practically impossible. CLEANLINESS: Very good WIFI: Good. QUALITY OF SLEEPING: When I stayed it was quiet but I am not sure that it is always so concerning many flats around skylight. On the window in one bedroom thre was no curtain only dimly glass. When somebody turn on the light in the skylight this is seen in the room.
