This is a fantastic restaurant in South Chaweng that should not be missed. The menu offers everything from the local Thai dish to a hearty Australian steak, pizza and great desserts. The service provided by Matsi and Bow was exceptional and always attentive to our needs. We enjoyed No Nam and a Prawn Rice wrap appetizers. The No Nam is not to be missed. The for mains we had the steamed fish with lime and chili sauce, which was truly great. We have had lots of steamed fish traveling through Asia over the years but this dish ranks among the top and full of flavor and completely de-boned. We also had the tamarin tiger prawns. A bit sweeter of a dish, the prawns were excellent.Then ended the meal with a dish of ice cream!All of this for 2 people which was just right. Along with a few beers and drinks. Also great value for the quality of food, all in was 1200 bath ($40 USD)Also unique decor throughout, if you look closely you will find the tables are constructed of old foot peddle powered sewing machine stands. It is a relaxing environment away from the craziness you find in other areas of Chaweng beach. Thank you for choosing "THE CHEF RESTAURANT AND BAR" for your dinner in Ko Samui. Red Snapper is an up market restaurant with live entertainment ( duo on vocals and guitar) with a âhappy hourâ (2 for1 drinks) and nice decor. On the evening we were the only people in the restaurant as we decided to eat relatively early so the service was impressive. The menu is split between Italian and Thai dishes and we opted for satay chicken to start (served spectacularly in a vertical presentation with satay side) which was delicious then a Pad Thai for me and chicken fried rice for my wife. Washed down with Singha beer and cocktails this was a great way to ease the tensions of night market shopping in Chaweng! I've heard about lots of nice things about the restaurant so decided to book the table for my hubby's birthday dinner.Many tables were set on the beach and lightly lit.The service was top notch and atmosphere was really romantic.We had beer, mango, papaya & coconut drink, mineral water, tom yam goong, crab cakes, fish cakes, fried noodle, cashew nuts chicken and jasmine rice. All the dishes were nicely presented and tasty, and we especially liked Tom yam goong and crab cakes the best.We wanted to order some desert, too, but could'nt. Main dishes were huge, so we could'nt finish them all. Maybe next time!Considering the level of service and atmosphere, the price was set rather reasonable. We already have visited this place several times. The food is always great. Our favorites: "Pad Thai"and "Tom Kha Gai" (coconut-soup), but everything we tried tasted great. The staff is extremely friendly and they do everything to make you feel like home. Very nice decoration, they even had live traditional thai music today. Just had dinner here on our last night in Samui. We ordered the beef massaman, crispy sea bass with mango salad, and seafood coconut custard (a savoury dish).It's an extraordinary venue, great atmosphere with reasonable food prices for the location. Many others on this stretch of the beach are exorbitantly priced.The service from Pui was spot on and she was most helpful. Service was timely and the food came at the right temperature.The massaman was equal to the best we've ever had, ever. Delicate, rich, and made in the proper slow cooked fashion. It came with roti bread.The crispy fish was cooked well and tasted great, but the highlight of that dish was the amazing mango salad that came with it. It complemented the fish perfectly. Beware, the mango salad is spicy. The seafood coconut custard was most unusual, maybe not to everyone's liking, but we really enjoyed it. It was a version of a red curry and beautifully presented in the shell.Drinks were ok for the price. We had mojitos, and they weren't watered down. Very tasty. I live in Samui and was recently invited to attend an exclusive vegan food and organic wine evening. I didn't have any real expectations of a gourmet meal (not being a vegan myself) but I have to say it was fantastic! I was blown away by the creativity, variety and taste!Chef Nick and his team had gone all out to create a menu that could be served in any top restaurant in the world. Landed on Samui on a Friday so went straight to the walking street and The Shack with friends! We love to hang out at the Shack on a Friday eating real food, chatting with the expats and listening to Mark James. And we spotted some MMA fighters and people from the Singapore Grand Prix too!For main course I ordered a whole Maine Lobster that was grilled on the open grill and basked with butter. I also ordered the special seafood sauce on the side.. not to be missed - SPICY! There is new stuff on the menu, Halloumi fries with tzatziki. Absolutely amazing!! This I will be ordering again and again. Even though it was rather packed that day the staff gave us their full attention and nothing was overlooked. Very good service from those girls and boys! We'll be back as soon as possible.
