It is a favorite holiday destination for many local South Africans. It is about 40 minutes north of Durban. There are plenty of fishing spots along the coast from Salt Rock, through Shaka's Rock to Ballito and Salmon Bay. Salt Rock owes much of its history to Basil Hulett and his wife Gwen who started not only the Salt Rock Hotel but went on to develop the town of Salt Rock as found today. Nightlife in the small town is limited with a handful of pubs and restaurants offering a variety of food and drinks. A new development, Sheffield Manor, is situated in Salt Rock as well as the newly built Tiffany's Shopping Mall.

A would have been family dinner marred by many blunders. Music so bad inappropriate taxi type and loud! Wrong order taken due to poor command of the English language and loud music. Food did not live up to expectations!! 500 g ribs looked like kiddies portion! Flat chicken so dry and small! Which was meant to be a flattie not filet! Apologies weak Eisbein not crispy! Ran out of salad so served with chips instead when there is a supermarket 100 feet away air conditioner had to be switched off due to it dripping on a customers head. Then we sweltered! All in all they had one chance to make a good first impression and failed on too many counts

All Mikeâs Kitchen restaurants serve a great hamburger thatâs characterized by its distinctive burger party thatâs grilled to perfection and tastes homemade. The beef burger patty at this restaurant wasnât a genuine Mikeâs Kitchen beef burger patty and made the meal rather unpleasant. Service was good, but not the food.

We went there twice in one week. Service was great, food was amazing and the overall ambiance was comfortable. The staff were all happy and made our overall experience great. We were served by happiness and Stanley and both of them were fast, friendly and efficient.We will definitely go back and recommend to everyone

We had lunch and ordered the chorizo starter and snails (escargots I think is the correct word to use). The snails were served with 3 different sauces which was a great idea and very tasty. We decided that the lamb rib was too big (500g) for one person so agreed to share this with each of us ordering a different side. The lamb was probably a 10 year old sheep! The rib was made up of 80% fat that was awful. No fault to the chef as that amount of fat would be impossible to render down. An effort had been made which left the bit of meat dry with the texture of biltong. The manager did mention who his meat supplier was so it did not really surprise me! What did surprise me was no offer to remove that item from our bill but an offer of a dessert instead was made which was declined. Who wants a dessert after a sickly fatty mouthful of meat?? The wine menu is good and YoYo, our waiter was attentive and professional. Peron Peron might need to pull its socks up as the competition in Eat Street will be getting tougher. Not my go to again place.
