We are from the Bay Area Bay near San Francisco. We decided to stay in Las Catalinas for Spring Break this year per recommendation from a friend. We decided to go for a nice meal out one of the nights at the newly opened Ponciana in the Hotel Santorena in the town of Las Catalinas, Costa Rica. I canât speak highly enough of the amazing flavors and textures in this meal. Itâs is difficult to find this quality of local ingredients and complex flavor combinations while sitting on the beach in a small town in Costa Rica. This is a first-class experience from the service to the menu. If you have the opportunity to experience this restaurant, you absolutely must try it. This adorable little restaurant is serving up some big flavors in these homemade artisan style burgers. But there are more than just hamburgers. The menu includes vegetarian fare, chicken and fish burgers, sandwiches, wraps, nachos and salads. Best of all, they are served combo style with chips, French fries or yucca fries and a choice of natural juices. Try the pineapple- basil juice! Owned by a Canadian ex-pat, we came here to get poutine, and we weren't disappointed at all, quite the opposite. I actually had Chifrijo, which was really good 'cept chicken was a little bit dry, and the poutine with bacon was really delicious! The fries were crispy, done just right, the gravy good, could have benefited from a bit more cheese though. Service was excellent, very friendly, and we had a nice chat with the owner from Windsor, helped by his daughters and a congenial waiter. It is located somewhat oddly, on the second story of a modern commercial building close to our condo at Casa del Sol, with one of those curious little Italian ex-pat developments behind, and the road, then the beach beyond. So, we had a nice view of the sunset, thru the power lines but still nice, as we ate. I would return here to try more of the local food especially.

The restaurant has an amazing view. It has air conditioning and terraza areas, so you can feel confortable in any temperature. I really enjoy going here for breakfast. The food presentation invites you to try, so be careful, it is better to come here thinking that you will try many different food options. Also I like to go there any time it has Brunch specials. The food quality totally worth the value of what you pay. One big note, the deserts are incredibly, I feel guilt free when I have tried many of them.

The staff are friendly, the ceviche is delicious and the full bar can't be beat. As the place falls apart - the view of the ocean is incredible. Our kids (two girls) found stuff on the menu they liked, we had the ceviche, the guac and chips and a few drinks. Bring cash - no cc accepted - prices are reasonable and the view can't be beat!

Ice cream rolls , fillings chopped in front of you. Practice your French....the guy here was a chop expert, not really my thing but the kids liked their ice creams and the price was ok.

Off beaten path in playa brasilito. A small fantastic restaurant right on the beach. Very inviting and welcoming staffs and food is just tasty! Watch sunset and eat nice hearty meals and chatting away with a chef and staffs. You just wanna go back and hang out with them again and again. Really nice vibe and local environment. Steaks and appetizers r awesome.Family,couple or Solo... perfect chilling place

Our family of six had a fun time finding this place, and were glad we did. It's a great place to relax by the beach, have some tropical drinks and good food. We stayed around to watch the sun set on a huge rock between two islands off shore. The team of servers was very attentive. Our only complaint would be the constant battle to keep pesky flies off of our drinks and food.Hello Birdguy: Thank you for your review and for your business! I am very happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. I have watched many sunsets between the mountain and island in front of Father Rooster. It is quite a display. Glad you enjoyed the food and drinks. I wish that we had a better solution for the flies. They come on occasion and cover the entire region--generally when the winds are pushing out from the farmland over the ocean. It is pretty tough to keep them at bay.
