Friendly welcome from staff and so accommodating throughout. This restaurant was so good we visited twice during our week in Passignano. Mainly a fish based menu and quite interesting combinations. Lake fish predominantly so be adventurous and try some. It'll be worth it. Highlight for me was a smoked fish -perch I think- with melon as a starter. There is also an extensive wine list of high quality. Right on the main road too so fantastic views. Or eat out at the rear within the pathways of the town with the swallows swooping overhead. Memorable.

Nice lunch in the back garden coverd for rain. Served by what may be father and son, jolly and homly feeling and good traditional tuscan food. Wish we had tried the pasta, coocked and put into! a large pecorino where they carve the cheese to blend in. Very interesting way of doing it and looked really good!Also recommend if you want to practise some Italian.

Had wonderful lunch here with family. Very authentic osteria with great selection of Tuscan favorites. The pizza looked good but we opted for pasta and secondi. The ravioli with butter and sage was outstanding, as was the pasta with sugo cinghiale. We enjoyed the sausage and beans as well as the rabbit - both excellent. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Itâs s cozy place and great for a long relaxing meal.

We had arrived in Cortona from Florence and after settling into our apartment on Via Nazionale I took a walk into the center of Cortona (Piazza Repubbulica) and started looking for a restaurant for dinner. I remembered a restaurant my wife and I went to in 2013 (Locanda al Pozzo Antico on via Ghini). So I took a walk to the restaurant and went into the courtyard and the owner and chef Paola welcomed me and asked if she could help me. I said I like to make reservations for 4 tonight at 8pm in the courtyard. She said no problem and we will be waiting for you. My wife and I, our daughter and her friend arrived at 8pm and she knew exactly where we wanted to be seated.My wife ordered Pici with rosemary in a tomato sauce and I ordered Pici in a wild boar sauce. My daughter ordered Maccheroncini in a tomato sauce and her friend had tagliatelle in a wild boar sauce. All dishes were outstanding. I ordered a bottle of Santa Christina wine from Cortona that I had the last time we were at this restaurant. Initially, they said they ran out of that wine but our waitress knowing I was disappointed went back and found the only bottle left. My Pici in wild boar sauce was so good I ordered a second dish. We then shared a Creme Brulee for dessert.We had a great Tuscan dinner in a wonderful setting with great service. After we finished our meal the owner and chef Paola came over to our table to make sure everything was okay and thanked us for coming.If you are in Cortona you should make Locanda al Pozzo Antico a high priority to visit for lunch or dinner. It is clearly one of the best restaurants in Cortona with exceptional service.

Impressive wine selection. Very slow service. Most of the food we ordered they would come back and say they didnât have. That was rather disappointing. The food was all so salty. So much salt. The tiramisu was just cream and cocoa...no cake. One of the waiters, an older gentleman was very nice. Difficult to enjoy dinner as the kids at the table next to us were running around, screaming, climbing on things. The staff did nothing about it. I understand kids are kids, we had two with us and they didnât act like that. If youâre looking for somewhere to relax, this place will work. Food is edible, just salty.

Osteria la solita zuppa
This restaurant, in the old town of Chiusi, is quite special. Italian food is extremely traditional, and what distinguishes good restaurants from bad, according to the Italian thinking, is the quality and freshness of the ingredients rather than originality. La Solita Zuppa, however, manages to serve really good traditional dishes while at the same time coming up with some fabulous variations on traditional themes. (It is very much a slow food restaurant.) The pici with a goose ragu (a special) was extraordinarily good, one of the best rich meaty pasta sauces I have had. The maiale (pork) slow cooked in chestnut honey was out of this world. The roast beef, though more traditional, had a melt-in-the mouth tenderness. And the three icecream balls was up there with the best desserts ever. It sounds banal, but is like nothing what you will ever find in a gelateria: it involved mascarpone and yoghurt, chestnut honey and saffron, and I forget the third. The subtlety and distinctiveness of the flavours was as good as it gets. Soups are their speciality (as the name indicates) but we didnât try them as it was not really the season. All these dishes would do a multi-starred Michelin restaurant proud. The house wine was very good as well (a good test). Judging from the wines ordered by the next table, the wine list ooks pretty good too. The presentation was a little more formal than the usual trattoria â linen, nice glasses, etc. â which made it good for an occasion. There was a mix of discriminating tourists and locals. The affable and very likeable owner and head chef will explain all the dishes, in English if required, and it is worth taking his advice as there are often specials not on the menu. Value was extraordinarily good â right at the low end of standard trattoria prices, yet the food quality was top of the range. Definitely a stop on a culinary tour of Italy.Chiusi vecchio is quite a pretty town, not much visited: the 1930s archaeological museum, devoted to Etruscan antiquities, is interesting, as is the church opposite.

We have been coming to Cortona for 20 years and decided to try a place other than our old favorites. We were sorely disappointed in the flavorless food and chaotic service Perhaps it is to your old favorites that our excellence is annoying, not being of the place and having had many consents.It is clear and evident, the Cortona Bistrot is under media attack. Too many negative reviews have been made in such a short time. Yet since we opened 5 years ago, nothing has changed. I'm in the room talking and serving customers and my wife in the kitchen preparing everything we serve. We are the only local in the area that has a fully-open kitchen and customers love to watch Anita prepare everything beforehand and cook when they order later. With the restaurant always full of customers and with a varied menu like ours, she manages to make everything come out perfectly and with perfect times.With us it is impossible that the food, so-called then in a too general way, has no taste. And all prepared from "0", fresh pasta, jams, sauces, desserts, sauces ... ..The service may be a bit chaotic maybe only when the place is completely full of customers.Hiring 45 seats in two people in the dining room, with excellent service and attention to the smallest details like ours, is sometimes not easy at all. But everyone can understand it.Unfortunately, many of our colleagues emotionally involve some customers in order to do reviews like that. New strategy to increase rankings and receive as many customers as possible. Purtroppo molti nostri colleghi coinvolgono emotivamente alcuni clienti al fine di fare recensioni del genere. Nuova strategia per salire di classifica e ricevere piÃ¹ clienti possibili. Questo accade a chi non brilla di luce propria e deve necessariamente danneggiare gli altri per tentare di emergere. Non Ã¨ possibile che chiunque possa scrivere qualcosa solo perchÃ© loro controllano lâID di provenienza. Malgrado tutto, noi saremo sempre pieni di clienti perchÃ© ormai ci conoscono non solo in zona. Il nostro successo Ã¨ stato determinato da un potente, costante ed irrefrenabile âpassaparolaâ che ora ha raggiunto anche le grandi cittÃ limitrofe, dalle quali provengono sempre piÃ¹ numerosi clienti. Vengono a Cortona per mangiare da noi, non vengono da noi perchÃ© si trovano a Cortona. Once again, delicious food prepared by Chef Angela and served by her husband Giuliano. Intimate, rustic and friendly atmosphere. (And no TV!!! That in itself deserves a 5* plus!) I photographed only the desert - couldnât resist as it looks so pleasing on the eye as well as on the palette. ( Panna cotta with meringue and frutti di bosco).
