The Fish Factory

Our last visit some years ago was a bit disappointing but our friends who live nearby wanted to come. Restaurants need to keep reinventing themselves if they wish to survive and perhaps some further improvements would improve things. For a Saturday night it was pretty full so others perhaps think differently. I tend these days to go for 2 starters rather than having a main as often you get a more interesting choice. I tried the Chowder and also the Chorizo with scallops whilst others in the party tried the haddock & chips and fish pie. The desserts were OK but not particularly exciting. Wines are not cheap. Service was friendly but became somewhat spasmodic as time went by. Overall not particularly exciting but needs to watch it doesnt fall further behind as other alternative restaurants offer better value with a more interesting menu.

On our way to Gatwick airport via Worthing we chose to have traditional fish and chips at one of our favorite eateries in Worthing rather than pay through the nose at the airport. Blue Ocean is close to the sea front, sandwiched between a noodle bar and another large eatery. We like it because the food is freshly cooked, staff are very friendly and prices affordable. It’s recently had a refurbishment and the kitchen moved to the back to give the staff more cooking room. There are about 6 tables inside and a few outside. Mostly we choose cod and chips but there are plenty of other options. The Sauvignon Blanc wine is particularly good and very very reasonablypriced. It’s not posh but very clean and what’s not to like? We will most definitely return again and again.
