Find out what Seafood restaurants to try in Shanklin. Shanklin Beach is a beautiful, carefully tended stretch of sand on the Isle of Wight. Families appreciate the lifeguards, as well as the kids’ play area. And while there’s quite a hill separating the town from the beach, don’t worry—a lift makes it easy to tote all your beach paraphernalia down to the sand.

Fantastic return visit to Vernon’s Cottage, which is simply our favourite restaurant on the island. From the lovely owners whom we sat and spoke to and whom talked openly talked about their resident ghost, to the fantastically fresh cooked food, to the romantic / relaxed candlelit ambiance, all was superb and faultless in every way.The food was tasty, well priced, good value for money and fresh. The service was quick and the food piping piping hot. It was also so nice to have that personal touch of chatting with the owners, in such a relaxed, beautiful environment.Would most definitely recommend and will certainly look to return.

Small restaurant but very friendly. Booking is probably essential at peak days. Had crab & lobster bisque to start and pan fried sea bass for main. Both absolutely delicious. With five others and they all thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Friendly staff

The Corner Grill House

Reviewed By OscarWarwickshire

Let me briefly talk you through my one and only experience of this place. A few days ago I took my wife out for dinner. We went to the Corner Grill. On entering, we were not so much greeted as challenged with a "Have you booked?" question from a female member of staff who I assume was the manager. Ironic considering that the place was, apart from two or three covers, deserted. We told her we hadn't and she waved towards the general restaurant area, effectively telling us that we could sit anywhere we liked on the tables laid for two people. We sat ourselves down and after a few minutes the same lady came over to us. She slapped a couple of menus down on our table. She told us that there was no swordfish and walked off again. It was all a little bit abrupt and to be honest, got my back up a little bit. The icing on the cake came moments later when we heard raised voices coming from around a corner. There was lots of shouting, loud laughter and lots of swearing with the 'F' word used liberally. The manager shouted across the restaurant to whoever was creating the disturbance, effectively asking them to keep the noise down. It was clear that she was shouting at staff and not customers. Our initial impression of the restaurant was not favourable and we decided that in the circumstances we would not be staying. As we left, I looked round the corner and saw that the shouting and swearing had been coming from a couple of young lads in the kitchen. They saw that I was not happy and the manager, when I told her that we were leaving and why, gave them a look. One of the young lads clearly found it amusing because he sarcastically and rather mockingly shouted "Oops!" as we walked out.I can't comment on the standard of food, but I can comment on the standard of the staff. There is no doubt that those I encountered on that night were atrocious. The manager, if that's what she is, couldn't have been less bothered and the kitchen staff acted like out and out yobs. I will not be going back.I patiently waited for this review You had been asked if you had booked as there was a booking at 9pm so we could confirm if it was you or still to arrive. Why not be honest? You left as you heard from the kitchen not swearing at all however about a same sex marriage which you said upon exit is disgusting so in 2019 if a little conversation of a friend gettinf married to yes his 2 males makes you sick and feel thw need to leave then im glad you left as to be honest your very small minded and stuck in a past life It's 2019 not 1920
