Ate here while at Alassio for the day. The food and service were both great. You can create your own salad and they are quite large. The pizza is also very good. When you are down you can hang on the beach or head off to the many shops.Alassio is a wonderful place for sure.

We visited Fra Diavolo twice during a recent visit to Alassio. Mouth-wateringly good pizza. They are 3 different types of dough - i loved both the classico and nero (dark). We all had different pizzas and no one was disappointed. We sat once outdoors, almost on the beach (fab!) and once in the restaurant. The service was v good, the food and wine delicious and it's all reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit.

Cheers for starting a new business on Alassio's Main Street, a place that has seen more closings than openings. They have taken an old bar and turned into a bar with a kitchen, but not a kitchen with a bar. To call this a gastropub is a stretch. Their logo includes the words: "Craft Beer", and there are 9 spigots at the bar front, along with a substantial array of other kinds of booze. Wine bottles around the outside wall suggest there are other options. It is more of a saloon atmosphere and they haven't spent very much, if anything, on decor. A patron standing just outside the door smoking, with the smoke coming into the room doesn't add to the experience. There are a number of new or newish options in Alassio for people who are looking for red meat. The chops and chopped meat in a refrigerated case outside the kitchen suggests these folks may be taking fresh meat seriously. Our 300 gram burgers, infused with truffle oil were not bad, but those at several other local establishments tasted better and were prepared by chefs rather than what appeared to be a short order cook.I don't want to be overly critical, but the "music", clientele and ambiance is a little too 20 something and blue collar for me.We ordered "black beer" from Bologna, which turned out to be a faux Guinness. Neither Ireland nor Germany need worry. The bartender also needs some practice pulling. I prefer not to have 4 centimeters of foam and more pouring over the glass as it is brought to the table. The staff is friendly, and some customers seem to be enjoying themselves. Consequently, they won't miss us.

The place is simple and located in a nice square of the of the beautiful old town of albenga. We went for dinner and the restaurant was full. We booked in advance and were allocated a table at 5cm from the entrance door. Very unpleasant as each time some one enters, the wind hurts you. We were not yet served and a table in the centre of the restaurant became available. We asked to move and the answer was “no, we are full”. What?!? We booked as well and you are forcing us to stay in a freezy table...the food was ok but nothing extraordinary. But once you eat in uncomfortable situations and the attitude is so “Ligurian”...that does not matter. There are so many places around....

For quality, consistency, hospitality and value Barcala al Mare deserves a higher position in the Alassio ratings. We tried them again yesterday for lunch as they opened after their vacation. The appetizers and our risotto were prepared and displayed to perfection. The desserts were also quite pleasing. The wine list has some depth. They always have a nice selection of fresh fish and shellfish. In a resort city, one test of reliability is whether the restaurant is frequented by locals as well as tourists. They easily pass that test. The price point is a little higher than the primarily pizza and salad trade places that dominate the waterfront. But they deliver well prepared, attractive and satisfying dishes. The service is always friendly and professional, usually involving one of our favorite waiters in town. They are on our short list of places we wouldn't hesitate taking friends.

While we will miss Osteria d'Angi, it was getting a bit tired. The complete makeover from an experienced team of Torinese restauranteurs is quite pretty and trendy. We happened to visit a few days after they opened in mid-February. Things are usually turbulent in such an early period, but by Valentine's Day they were in gear. We recognized our waitress who had waited on us at another local restaurant a few months before-and gave us a warm greeting.I'm happy to see all the positive reviews-which suggests they are still on track. The menu is an interesting range/mixture of upscale dishes down to pizza. The staff is quite young and I suspect they will attract a fairly young crowd. Plenty of folks from Torino and Milano spend time in Alassio. They, as well as some of the locals, will appreciate the out of town influence. The price point is fair and is not aiming at the fine dining establishments in town. All in all, a nice and slightly different addition for the town.

I really enjoyed my lunch here. I went with 3 other people and one of them was vegetarian. The staff (young and professional) went beyond expectation making us feel comfortable and spoiled even just with a focaccia offered to repay us the trouble for not to have an egg to put in the salad. Mattia was our waiter and he really managed to deliver a very good service. The food was great: spaghetti alle vongole was delicious and the pizza with burrata cheese was excellent. Location was great: just in front of the beach with the ligure coast in front of us. If you want to eat properly and pay an honest price go and visit "Damare".

For years, even decades, we have been walking past this restaurant in the smug assumption that it was a tourist trap. The wide advertised selection: Tex-Mex, paella, pizza, seafood, spaghetteria, steaks, lots of photos of food have many of the warning signs. How can a restaurant do all these different types of food and do them well? But look closer, it is often filled and with more locals than tourists. Our mental tide turned when I read about the owner's campaign against the vindictive kind of TA reviews where people have said a lot of unkind things without the courtesy and fairness of bringing problems to the attention of the owners and giving them the opportunity to make them right. Clearly, nearly every one in the constantly challenging hospitality business wants to satisfy their customers. Why else would they earn a living in this demanding field? The greeting is sincere and cheerful. The menu is indeed expansive. We are not in a hurry to try the Tex-Mex offerings since we have access to the real deal at home. We opted for Argentine steaks and they were quite good. (We have spent some time in Argentina and appreciate the quality of its beef). Prices were fair. A mixed salad, desserts and Lavazza coffee were all well prepared and presented. The decor is a bit generic but not unpleasant. This has not all of a sudden become a favorite venue, but I have new respect for their hard work and decent offerings at fair and modest prices. We will be back to try their pizza and perhaps the Paella. Equally important, we are glad to have jettisoned one prejudice.
