My friend Roberta told me: just order one dish... it's plenty! well, how can you? this is paradise, food heaven, absolute bliss. when you are starved in Australia, this is what you dream about. I had polenta with lardo, followed by ravioli al brasato and then followed by more polenta and wild boar... my partner had every possible vegetariann dish on the menu. to say that this experience will stay with us forever is not enough to do justice to this marvellous restaurant. it's a treasure and I hope it will not change forever. we look forward to the next time and for the time being, we just have to keep dreaming looking at the photos we have taken. GRAZIEVi ringrazio tantissimo per questa recensione, scritta col cuore e che mi ha lasciato veramente. colpito Spero vivamente che possiate prima o poi tornare anche se portare con se un bel ricordo a volte è come esserci nel momento voluto Grazie ancora Luca & PinucciaTradotto con Google Thank you so much for this review, written with the heart and that really left me. hit itI sincerely hope that you will sooner or later come back even if bringing a good memory with you is sometimes like being there at the desired momentThanks againLuca & Pinuccia

Went there tonight with a group of 7. Two in the group ordered the ravioli. When I saw the dish I actually thought it was an appetizer. 5 mini ravioli for over 20 Euros. I mentioned something to our waiter and he blew me off. I had the filet which was fabulous. 3 people had the lobster with lasagna noodles which they enjoyed. Another had sea bass which she enjoyed. The waiter never returned to the table to see if we needed anything. No salad on menu, but we were able to order. Very fresh!Very pricey, but we were warned.Nice lady thank you for the nice review, but i don't understand why you are not satisfied ...you say that the pasta was good, the fillet also and the salad that was not on the menu , good and fresh ...so it became all tragic for the price of ravioli (⬠16?) ...making a complaint about homemade pasta is at least questionable ... fast-food is better?!

We reserved a space for dinner at Al Prato due to a restaurant owner in our home town in USA. We found a gem. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner, all fresh food, beautifully presented. Great wine choices. Very attentive staff. We had a great time sharing top quality lamb chops, rooster, pasta, and lake fish. A memorable restaurant in Varenna.

For over 20 years the Castelnovo Family ensures an unique food experience on Lake Como through its passion and competence.
Nothing can beet this site, right at the lakefront. Tucked away from the busy street. The Pizza is yummy and we loved their mixed fried fish - both from the lake and from the sea. The staff ist friendly and takes the order in Italian, English or German. The kids menu was our daughters favorite.Thank you for your gentle review. See you

We were excited to eat here after reading all the fabulous reviews. However, our meal was disappointing. I ordered the lamb stew which was bland and tasteless. My daughter had the fish which was also under seasoned. I will say the artichoke soup was delicious and they were nice enough to split an order for us. The place seemed a bit too pretentious for our taste. The service, while efficient, felt a bit unfriendly. I was hoping for more small trattoria vs fine dining stuffiness and would not return.

Probably the most authentic place we visited on our trip and well worth it. Fantastic homecooked food, I particularly recommend any of the pasta and desserts! The staff were very friendly, the service great and the chef even makes an appearance. Would definitely recommend

Chiuderemo per ferie dal 04 novembre 2019 al 5 dicembre 2019 . Ringraziamo tutti i clienti per le belle recensioni e auguriamo a tutti una buona fine d'anno
We were very excited about eating at this restaurant especially after reading all the reviews. However we really do not think it was worth the trip into the hills. Tables are set out on a very uninspiring courtyard it felt like you were eating in someoneâs garden. Service was excellent but the food was average and disappointing. We ordered the cheeseballs anchor gnocchi to start. The cheeseballs were on a bed of salad that was inedible but the cheese balls were good. The good gnocchi was okay but nothing special. Full names we ordered the beef kebab because so many people had said it was good and we also ordered the chicken Milanese. The chicken was dry and so very average. I have had better so many times before it was served with chips. The beef kebab was nothing to write home about in fact we were so disappointed. Deserts were good but not special. I have had better tiramisu in England. We had to get a taxi from the town Iâm very surprised anyone manage to walk up there as it was quite a journey maybe there was a quicker route but we could not see it. It was an expensive meal for what it was and I certainly wouldnât rush to go back. I just feel I shouldnât have read the reviews because perhaps I was expecting something special and this restaurant is not special.

Once again my large group got to experience a truly superb dinner at Il Caminetto.Providing round trip transfer from out hotel in Varenna and then offering up anabundance of food, wine, and conversation. Moreno and Rossella are the consumatehosts! It was a very memorable evening for everyone. If you are visiting Lake Como youshould definitely come here for dinner and also the cooking class. The icing on the cake is that Il Caminetto is a great value.

Arriving without booking a table when the place was heaving, the lady who ran the place, squeezed us in. The tagliatteli with shrimps and curry sauce was Devine, the pizza delicious and the service superb from pleasant staff, will go there again. What a setting it was magnificent. Thank you

Welcome to La cucina del pontile! The restaurant, located in a small village in Lake Como, enjoys a breathtaking view, offering unmissable sunsets. Its excellent location is easily accessible by car, bus or ferry. The picturesque promenade along the lake
The view speaks for itself, this is the beautiful part of Lake Como after all! The food is exquisite, interesting dishes home-cooked from fresh ingredients - simple yet full of flavour. A refreshing change from the "standard" Italian menu, and free from all the dressy touches that seem to prevail these days. Service is unobtrusive but efficient; dishes are brought to the table as soon as they are cooked, rather than being kept hanging around on the pass waiting until the whole table can be served together. Some may not like this. The family and staff may appear a bit reserved at first - regulars know better, they are delightful - but you may have to give a smile to get one.And to the reviewer who calls this a bad restaurant because they wouldn't allow his dog in, I can assure you that dogs are allowed in (a fault in my book as I hate to see dogs in restaurants) so there must have been some reason.........I'd suggest a return visit without the dog as you are missing a treat.
