We found this restaurant accidentally (as usual), we were just wondering around in Xiamen like hungry wolves.We loved it! My Mexican friend told me that it's really authentic. Lovely stuff, gorgeous food. We had the Astec soup, and tacos, also limonade and bier - licked all our 10 fingers.On the second floor you can play billiards. Very good music. Viva Mexico!! Our Sopa Azteca is a vegetarian tomato based soup with crispy corn chips, sour cream, cheese and avocado and our tacos come in a big variety of flavors and fillings! Visited QBA a total of 3 visits since opening. Sadly this visit on a Friday night left us wondering what exactly has happened ??? I'll keep this simple....The Executive chef has left the building and seemingly taken the QBA spirit and food quality with him. Appetizers poorly prepared and slow delivery. Entrees were sent back to the kitchen missing key ingredients advertized on the menu. Best part of the evening was the classic Mojito has survived the crash of the food& beverage service department. I did complain to the F&B replacement manager on duty and the food was removed from the bill without any hesitation. There is NO ENTERTAINMENT at this facility - which was one of the key points of going to QBA on a weekend evening. There is no mention of this situation upon being seated. Take yourself away from the busy streets, traffic & noise of surrounding Xiamen. La Catrina sits in a vacuum. A small alley removed from reminders of the surrounding city. Sit back, relax, and enjoy sipping on a cold beer or margarita while listening to Latin music in a friendly environment and filling yourself with delicious authentic Mexican food.Honestly, the owners of this place are fantastic people. They run the restaurant as a labour of love. It's a relaxing environment where regulars and travellers mix and chat at length with it's friendly owners. We spent 3 nights in Xiamen and ate here on all 3 nights. It's a hard place not to come back to. Dear valued customer! Thank you for your review, we appreciate your opinion. La Catrina is located inside a tiny lane, there's no traffic there which gives our customers an apportunity to enjoy their meal in private atmosphere. Thank you for mentioning it in your review.
