La Douceur

This eatery was recommended to us and we were interested to see what it would be like, based on the name.We had a fantastic experience...a fresh, tasty salad, tempting entree, delicious bread and a dessert "to die for"! Alas, we arrived too late for the "La Douceur" mousse, which sells out daily. We returned with a friend the next night and had an equally amazing experience, sampling more dishes. We were glad to have found this treasure in San Luis Potosi!

La Huasteca

I had been helping José Luis, my most gracious host, to move his offices across town, and after an arduous morning of paper shuffling and box toting, we were hungry. This time we went to lunch right around the corner from Antojitos El Pozole, which I reviewed earlier, to an unimposing restaurant called La Huasteca Potosina, specializing in the cuisine of this very beautiful region of Central Mexico. The place was empty at that hour so we got service right away. It was a one story, very casual looking restaurant with giant photos of lush, green framed and vine-hung rivers, waterfalls and natural pools, a giant map of La Huasteca and a Mexican flag as decor. La Huasteca is where all the water and snow that falls on the Sierra Madre and is filtered down under the high deserts of Northern and Central Mexico, exits the ground and creates a beautiful, natural garden, a gigantic oasis standing in extreme contrast to the arid landscapes of the rest of the region. They brought us totopos y Pico de Gallo (chips and salsa) with our water and other condiments, took our order for Micheladas (beer with tomato juice, spicy rim and lime) and came back almost immediately with our drinks. We ordered the "Huastecada" plate which included crayfish rice, frijoles negros (black beans), enchilada, tamale, taquitos and green salad. Everything was very mild, delicious and so generous I could not finish mine; and after weeks of Potosina fare, I was very glad for the gear change. This is a gringo's heaven, the Huasteca regional cuisine is very mild and flavorful. The Micheladas cost (3 each) was higher than the food bill and we left totally satisfied.

Not knowing what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised with this rather off-the-beaten-track restaurant. The decor is pleasant and the furniture functional. The service is exceptionally attentive and our waiter even spoke English, something not all that common in San Luis Potosí. The restaurant serves craft beer and has an extensive mezcal selection. The food is typical Mexican fare and arrived promptly and was plentiful. Do check it out if you are in Pozos!

This restaurant is located in front of the cathedral 's main Plaza. It is very conveniently located when visiting the downtown area. After sightseeing you can either sit down in the outside terrace or inside if the weather is too hot. They have local Mexican food. We tried gorditas which is a very local dish. They were Delicious!

Gourmet Mexican style restaurant. Beautiful architecture, great ambiance, and overall a high-end cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised to pay a low price (including wine) for what I thought was one of the best meals in the city. Simply put, you must visit Cielo Tinto if you are in SLP. Make reservations; it tends to get crowded. I don't know if it is every night, but so far every time I've had dinner, there is always live music playing.

Antojitos el pozole

Seems like a traditional ‘Cenaduria’; staff didn’t go out of their way to be nice but they were pleasant enough. Though the prices were a bit higher than those typically found around S.L.P. and other parts of Mexico, it was not exorbitant. The food came quickly was quite tasty. I had the Enchiladas Suizas. They were very very good, though with a ‘slightly sweet’ salsa I have not had in other places. Nevertheless, if you are in the area and looking for a good Mexican Cenaduria for dinner, check this place out.

I had the worse experience at this place, building, decor are authentic, and nice. The food on the menu sound amazing, but it doesn’t taste good, and their small portions. We had to wait over an hour and half to get our food. We ordered six different dishes plus appetizers. and one of the dishes was undercooked my daughter got sick to her stomach after tasting it. Price would be great if the food was better but it isn’t. I complained with the manager, and her only explanation was that it was the waitress’ fault.Dear Aurea:We are really sorry for what happened, we know that you had to wait for more than one hour to get into the restaurant; we’d really love to have more and more tables available for everyone, but sadly we don’t and we have to wait for someone else to leave so we can start serving people on the waiting list.We understand why you are so upset and we would sincerely like for you to give us another chance, please, call us so we can book you a table and that way we won’t keep you waiting again, we would love to have you back so we can change your perception
