My brother in law had chosen a new-to-him place to celebrate his birthday. Good choice Dave. Our booked table was ready and drinks were sorted quickly as was our food order. Dave and wife had the sea bass, my wife had pizza buffalo and I had been lured by the spaghetti alla pescatore. We all highly rated our dishes and I could agree that my wife's pizza was good as she gave me a hefty slice to try. My pasta had exactly the right amount of chilli so it gave enough spark without dominating. The only fly in the soup, not literally of course, was something the restaurant had no control over. A large group sitting adjacent to us had loads and loads and loads of laughs but one woman was super loud with a hysterical laugh which dominated the whole room. I was concerned that she didn't have a sharp implement handy! If you give the place a try, assuming she's restrained by then, you won't regret it.

We visited for a new year meal, which was great. Sad to say they had run out of a lot of the ingredients for one of the vegan pizzas which was slightly disappointing, but the food was great anyway. And the cocktails were delicious!

Frankie and Benny's - Witney

We visited the Witney F&B for the first time in a while. I’m not the biggest fan of the place to be honest, this is due to the slow service we normally experience. However, my wife had the new special offer; £25 for a bottle of wine a sharing starter and two main courses. Sounded good to me, so we went for it.....what a mistake!! Let me start by stating that the waitress was superb, she did everything she could to make the visit a nice experience. Firstly, the staff, including he manager, had no idea what the deal was. There was no menu available for the deal, despite the small print stating that there was, and the manager used assumptions rather than fact! The choice of sharing starters was woeful!! Either wings or dough balls. We chose the dough balls and immediately wished we hadn’t. A plateful of warmish dough was offered with frozen garlic butter and a tiny portion of tomato salsa and pesto. After a couple of the dough balls, I’d had enough. Bland in the extreme and so samey I defy anyone, who’s not starving, to eat them all!! As there was a poor selection of available mains, we both chose the meatballs. I would love to meet the chef who concocted these shockingly awful meatballs. Absolutely solid, grisly and resembling cheap supermarket burger meat. Furthermore they were either microwaved, or cooked badly, with tough skin surrounding the equally tough “meat”. The pasta would have made any true blooded Italian cry!! How can you get pasta so wrong? Completely overcooked, sloppy, cheap pasta. The bolognese sauce wasn’t too bad, it may have had contact with tomato at some point! Then there was the red coloured liquid; allegedly wine?? Again, awful; Italy has so much to offer in the wine field, who chose this rubbish to be the F&B house red?? An 11% abv bottle of thin flavoured cheap plonk!Overall this meal was not worth the £25 “special offer” price. However, the biggest shock of the day was that it should have cost near on £55. We paid the £25, more to save the embarrassment of the poor waitress than anything else. Had we have been paying full price, I would have paid nothing!! Terrible meal, good service. Never again!
