It was previously known as Schoemansville, named after General Hendrik Schoeman, a Boer General in the Anglo-Boer War, who owned the farm that the Hartbeespoort Dam was built on.

We went for dinner last night.Overall we had a great time, the live entertainment William Blackrose was very entertaining. My son built his own pizza and the Manager Sbu was very attentive. Well done to Sbu for your dedication. -5âï¸rating for managers on floorThe kids were thirsty most of the night due to the great kids play areas -5âï¸ for kids play areaOn the negative side, drink took on average 20 minutes to get which in normal standards is a 2âï¸ rating. My poor kids were so thirsty most of the evening- great play area results in hydration needed.The waffle was so dry we couldnât eat it. I have eaten at this wonderful local restaurant many times over years when visiting family at hartbeespoort dam, the food is always exceptionally good, service is excellent, fun vibe, great menu with lots of choose and good value for money, the pizzas are divine.... good spot to stop for a drink and a decent selection of local wines ...

Gem of the Bushveld, is just that, a gem. Not fancy shmancy or OTT, but a relaxing family run venue that specializes in good pizzas and home cooked meals. The variety is hit and miss, depending on the day, with daily specials on offer in limited quantities. Depending on how busy the place is, determines the service. The busier, the longer you may wait for your food, as everything is cooked from fresh. The decor is rustic and it has a rural feel about it. If fine dining is your thing, then Gem is not for you. If you enjoy a great thin base pizza with generous toppings, then this one is for you. The place is filled with local characters who bring their own charm to the country feel of the outdoors. Prices are reasonable and beer is cold.
