Hartbeespoort, informally also known as "Harties", is a small resort town in the North West Province of South Africa, situated on slopes of the Magaliesberg mountain and the banks of the Hartbeespoort Dam. The name of the town means "gateway of the hartbees" (a species of antelope) in Afrikaans. It was previously known as Schoemansville, named after General Hendrik Schoeman, a Boer General in the Anglo-Boer War, who owned the farm that the Hartbeespoort Dam was built on.

I have eaten here a few times after shopping at Chameleon Village. The food is fine but nothing special. I have tried the hamburgers and the fish. On my most recent visit in February, the fish took an exceptionally long time to be served. The manager came to apologize and said it was very frozen. The price for the quality is a bit too high but there aren't many other options at Chameleon Village. One nice feature is when the weather is hot, the restaurant turns on misters which helps you to cool off.

After a nice safari tour, we decide to eat lunch in this restaurant. There was only another table, the service was very slow, the restaurant stuff don't know the menu,and the menu is not clear. There is no customer service. South Africa restaurant are much better than this one! We will definitely came back in Lion Park but not in the Bull'nBuck Grill.

We visited Timbavati with friends on a Saturday. Place was quite busy with a wannabe cowboy singing very loud. So loud we had to shout to one another.I ordered the mussels and really regretted it. It comes in a lemon butter sauce that is very very very rich. Mussels were old and tasted very fishy. Main course of steak and calamari were okay. Chips and calamari very oily and not worth the R145.

This is a typical tourist trap in Chameleon Village. Arrived lunch time for some light snacks on a Monday. Waiter brought us the full steak house menu. It was only when I started remonstrating that we were advised that indeed toasted sandwiches were available. On checking the bill it appeared expensive for what we had had. Then I noticed that a 12% service fee had already been included. On reflection I should have created again & requested a bill excluding this charge. (As it was the drinks were quite expensive before 12% added!)

This is a great place for reasonable prices and good quality food with great views of the dam. You can also watch the para-gliders coming into land. The musicians playing are very good. The Sunday that we were there, the theme was country and western kind of style, which we enjoy.They have a so much space and ground, I feel they could improve the children's play area and/or add a jumping castle.Thanks for a most enjoyable day.

My wife and I visited this Spur on 1st May 2018.After waiting for over 30 minutes for a starter in a quiet time of the day we were told that the food would be ready in 2 minutes. 15 minutes later the mushrooms and calamari were served cold, and were also told that the main course was ready and could they serve it now? When the barely tasted cold starters were taken away the main course was served. The hamburger pattys were dried, leathery and cold,the mushroom sauce was like cold wallpaper paste. The chips were 50% raw and 50% cold.My wife'ssteak was however acceptable.We feltthat we should let the manager know as if no one tells you the problem then you cannot correct it. To his credit, the extremely likeable manager was sad to hear of our experience and could not do enough to placate us and offer to recompense us in some way. Very nice restaurant in a lovely setting, very good menu with pleasant service accompanied by a very good wine wine list. The children enjoyed the play area. The coconut and peanut chicken breast was so good that we went back a few days later to have it again.
