We came here several years ago on recommendation from a friend. The place was smaller (nothing outside in front of the Church) and it was really good. Simple dishes full of flavour. When I read the reviews here, some commented that the place was not so good anymore.We still went back with friends and did not get disappointed. Whilst the service could be improved, the food was still as good as ever. And our friends also loved it. The added a lot of tables in the front which probably makes the running less efficient. Still, we had 5 kids and they were happy to run around outside. Dishes were top quality, house wine was good and the price/quality for me is exceptional. You need to book though in the summer months as it's always busy. You might try to turn up early...7ish and get a quick table (as the locals only turn up around 9-10).Take the mixed starters and take some of the main dishes to share.

GREAT EXPERIENCE all made in Puglia, well... Leuca... couldnât eat in a better place, everything you eat is unique and super tasty, very friendly staff, location is also unique (like eating in a garden) and good prices. EXTREMELY RECOMMENDED

Stopped in for some quick sandwiches after the beach with my husband and two young children. It's hard to find good, quick, take away options in Italy - I'd love to always be able sit for a long leisurely lunch, but it can be tough when traveling with kids. Thankfully this place did not disappoint! We tried one of the prosciutto crudo and one of the porchetta options from the menu (they also have forms you can fill out in English or Italian to build your own sandwich). Both of ours were great - excellent baguettes and delicious ingredients. Enjoyed them immensely with a view from up near the lighthouse. Highly recommended.

We were very warmly greeted when we arrived. We sat outside in the piazza and enjoyed excellent service and hospitality from the waiters. The food was simple, fresh and well prepared. They brought out some delicious olive oil and salt for our bread. We shared a good grilled octopus on white bean purée and had two delicious pastas - spaghetti vongole and calamarata integrale (whole meal pasta with zucchini, squid, prawns and mussels). A small menu of interesting dishes.

Last friday(30.09.16) we enjoyed having lunch at the Risorante Re Sole.The restauant is beautiful and has a lovely terrace with surrounding garden.When driving from Leuca to Gagliano del Capo it is located on the right hand side, there is a signpost.We were the only guests, as it is off-season. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxed and we very much enjoyed the entertaining conversation with Luigi, the owner.The food was extremely delicious. It was perfection based on the best local produce, cooked with passion and skill. Everything homemade. We can imagine how big the efforts are as we too are passionate cooks at home.We hadAntipasti: Cozze alla marinara and Antipasti tipici della tradizione (I asked for vegetables only): Peperoni al pane saporito, Purea di Fave, Bietola con piccole olive nere, insalata di verdure e patate.First course:Troccoli con frutti di mare and Orecchiette alle cime di rapa.Second course: Trancio di Pesce Spada grigliato con lacrime di salmoriglio and Polpette al sugo di pomodoro.Service was very good, very friendly and attentive.A great thank you to our host Luigi and to his son for a wonderful and memorable lunch!Grazie mille e arrivederci!

Exactly in the main square of this tiny village, you will find this hidden gem that has been a good discovery during our days in that area. The owner is really welcoming and customer minded, the staff, well they try hard and they deserve recognition for that . In August the restaurant was full , so book in advance, I guess off season things are much quieter. It has outdoor tables and indoor, during the hot days it is better to dine inside as the temperature outside was too high. Starters and vegetables are delicious and melting in the mouth, the meats were good still not unforgettable .Good and fairly priced wine selection , wonderful bread , altogether a real good moment . Highly recommendable

Salento is not an area reknowned for its meat, that is fine,as the local cuisine can make up for that no prob, but after several months of fish and seafood and fresh cheeses, a nice steak is surely appreciated. we found the braceria by word of mouth and rightly so. The place was first a butcher shop and still is on one half of the building.I had a strip steak with french herbed butter, which was very tasty, but my husband's burger really caught my attention. The perfect combo of Italian and American. The bun was fresh and puffy, but not prefab and the fries were great. The restaurant is geared towards a younger crowd but that was half the fun. The prices were fair, about 35 euro for two.WE went back the next days for some BBQ meat and it was all very good. We will return!

Very generous selection of delicious starters, best described as Italian mezze , a great way to start the meal and fantastic introduction to the cuisine. Menu is not large but no lack of choices, everything is tempting. Nice atmosphere, very efficient and knowledgeable service, good wine selection, and everything well priced. Lovely homemade pasta dish with fresh shellfish, it was the only choice, one dish for all as it was not yet high season.Homemade olives and his own wine.We don't speak Italian, and he didn't speak much English, but we were served and understood very well, and the food was delicious.
