Delicious food from an excellent menu. Shared the best ever bruschetta pomodorro and an insulate Di mare. A lovely selection of calamari, prawns and octopus lightly dressed with a vinaigrette. Shared a Mille feuille also. Delicate and flavor some. Unexpected from this modest looking establishment. Wish we could visit again but sadly just passing through. Lucky people who live here.

You're in Italy so you know you can get good - more likely really good - food. Maybe at a hole in the wall, maybe at a fancy place. Sometimes cheap, sometimes not so. If you are near Grosseto, do not miss Osteria La Rimessa in Motorsaio in the hills above Grosseto. The aroma of the wood burning (and food warming) fire; old stone building, small but impeccably laid out and set tables. The chef just brought us food - we did not even see a menu. Delicious and interesting and, naturally, everything fresh fresh fresh. We are not huge eaters so skipped a couple of smaller dishes so we could leave room for some beef (hung for 25-28 days: tender...tasty...mmmmm!) and desert. The chef (ran/owned restaurants in LA and Honolulu) cooks and brings the food out so we also got a good chance to chat. Food, wine, the place, ambience, price, staff (chef, his wife) - all excellent and am still raving about our visit days later. A great find and I plan on returning very soon. But we need to book. It can be very busy so best to book well in advance.

This restaurant came highly recommended by locals from Banfi. But, we were a bit disappointed. The service was medicore at best, not what we had been experiencing, and the food seemed to be too Americanized and nothing special.

If you are in the area, excellent place to visit for a good meal at reasonable prices. Very friendly owners will take you in and make sure you are well fed. You will probably be amongst local families eating out. Also, this is the only decent place to eat in a wide radius as we found out on a Monday evening when they were closed....

The restaurant is up a dirt track down from the little hill town of Campagnatico. You eat in a glamorous out house with white curtains and tablecloths. There is no air con so itâs very hot in summer. The menu is simple with lots of homemade pasta and the usual sauces - ragu and pesto. I ate steak Fiorentina - the Tuscan rib eye. It was enormous and arrives on its own hot plate sizzling with salt. It was very tasty accompanied by a simple green salad. The palates fritte were unfortunately the frozen kind. The house red was good and you can order by the glass. 1 course with a glass of wine was â¬30. A good alternative to the pizzeria in Campagnatico. It was full of Italian families so it must be OK.

La Vecchio Oliviera - Via Trieste 1, TEL:50564 996462 This Pizzeria is located just inside the small hill town of Campagnatico, near to Paganico, above Grosseto. It has the best pizzas around and worth travelling for. It is open all year round, closed on Wednesdays. The tables are all inside and there is great air-con.
