Things to do in Ratnagiri
Gopal at Maruti Mandir, Ratnagiri is awesome for Local Kokani Cuisine distinct from Malvani Food. The seafood was fresh and great. They serves thalis a combo meal with various choices consisting of a Main dish either Chicken, Mutton, Fish, Prawns, Shell Fish with Rice Bhakris or Wheat Rotis, bowl of rice and an appetizer Sol Kadi. The restaurant is under renovation and their Non-Veg Section is placed behind the restaurant in a local house with low placed chairs and tables. The place is clean and the service is courteous. The ambience gives us the feel of a typical Kokan home. Definitely a place to visit when in Ratnagiri.

Hello everyoneRatnagiri is my Native Village and i have been traveling there since my childhood.Hotel Datta Cafe is situated opposite Radha Krishna Theatre. (near Ratnagiri Bus stop)The look of this place will take u back in the 80's. This place serves the best Misal Pav ever. You may try other Marathi specialties like Kurma puri, vada pav. But my favorite ls the Misal Pav.If you r traveling to Ratnagiri this is a small cafe u must try.Cheers

my frnds are from ratnagiri and this place is highly recomended for those travelling to Goa.its not a regular bus stop,so u wont find the place infested with noisy travelers.what a revelation especially after a tiring drive from a hectic goa trip.this time i was with my family.we ordered the veg and non veg thali.absolute treat, welcome change from the goan cuisine.we feared this would be a fiery variety of curry, but were pleased by a well balance curry. the veg thali is super for someone coming from Goa,n a real place for Marathi style cooking.tender parathas, daal, sabji, curry and curd.clean simplethe fish thali came recommended as the surmai had just arrived and was nothing short of an excellent preparation that had us going for more.thali had a sumptuous plate of plain rice,a piece of surmai in curry and two pieces of deep fried rawa layered surmai ..chilled water, spacious seating, clean washrooms and a meticulous kitchen..for a mumbaikar im impressed as this is great place to relax before heading back home
This hotel offers just the basic amenities, as all other hotels in this small coastal town. The rooms are AC, hot water is available. There is no breakfast spread, you will be given one fixed snack and tea/coffee. It is located in the heart of the town,Thiba Palace is very close and so are other major attractions

We were a group of 45 people travelling to Kerala for a marriage and we had to make arrangement in the train for dinner while going and during our return journey breakfast and Lunch. Suresh and Priyanka Ahire of Kokani Angan wholeheartedly agreed to do the needful and needless to say what an experience. We ordered Cashew curry, Paneer, Dal, Chicken, prawns, Surmai and lobsters along with Chapati, Bhakri and Sol kadi. The price was very reasonable and the taste and quality of food supplied was amazing. The fish was really fresh and the everything we ordered was so tasty just like home cooked food. The Sol Kadi was heaven. Thank you Suresh sir, you really made our day. Your simplicity, love and care is such a rare quality. People like you really stands out as the rare example of true Maharashtrian love and hospitality. Our friendship will continue for a long long time.
