Hotel Tresanton Restaurant

The dining room has a calm and cool Mediterranean atmosphere with a mosaic floor and tongue and groove walls. It has a terrace on two sides, where lunch, drinks and candlelit dinners are served in the summer, and whenever the temperate climate allows.

Visited the T for their weekend BBQ. 3pm sitting, every table booked, anticipation building! The buffet of salads and starters was fresh and delicious. Smoked salmon and capers, chilled shell-on king prawns, oysters on the half shell, fresh breads, 5 or 6 salads, fresh coleslaw, fresh celeriac remoulade and numerous sauces and dressings. The BBQ offering was similarly impressive. Tasty bangers, lamb chops, the finest-cut minute steaks I’ve ever seen cooked to your preference over the coals, corn cobs... delicious.Choice of three tasty mini desserts to finish. All of the above as many times as you like. Dear TJF1976Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel after your Summer BBQ with us. We are delighted that you enjoyed your afternoon, the BBQ's are a wonderful way to spend a lazy summer afternoon with friends and/or family, grazing merrily on the freshly prepared salads, seafood and hot items from the grill with a nice bottle of wine or a Tresanton cocktail to quaff! We will hope to see you again in the future! With best regards, Karen and the team.

I booked a table by phone and was surprised to find the Pub restaurant almost empty. We were worried whether this was because the food was not up to much but were in for a surprise. The roast lamb with vegetables we ordered was lovely and rich, very tasty.Quite a different experience from other Sunday roasts in town recently, which haven't been up to scratch one way or another, from lukewarm or uncrispy roast potatoes or swimming in gravy. We found out later that the Pub had only just restarted offering Sunday lunches.Definitely worth another visit or two.

We had been here a year previously and been quite impressed, but on this occasion the service was poor. There were large waits between courses, particularly between starter and main course. We noticed that other persons who arrived after us were served before us which seemed wrong and we mentioned this. Food was ok, but it seemed that over fussy details were added unnecessarily.

All six of our tapas dishes were very good though as they were brought out together some went cold. When I gave this feedback I was told I could have asked for them to come separately, it would be a good idea to ask people in advance. We had incorrectly assumed that they would come out one by one. We shared an expresso creme brulee which was so good but the cinnamon donuts had zero cinnamon in them and were pretty awful, just lumps of dough. All in all it was a very good meal and it's a pleasant cafe style restaurant with a good view of the harbour. The wine though has a high mark up, the pinot grigio we had cost £19 and tasted like a £5 bottle. Would it not be possible to improve the quality? An extra couple of pounds spent would go a long way. The wine was just about drinkable. We paid £65 before tip. It was the first cold evening we have had and there is quite a draught in the window seats. It was an enjoyable evening and the waiters do their bestWe are delighted that you enjoyed your tapas dishes and creme brulee and appreciate your feedback regarding the timings of your dishes. We do typically serve everything at once unless someone asks otherwise but will bear this in mind going forward. We were sorry to hear that your donuts were not quite so good. This is a suprise as they are usually delicious so can only apologise that they were not so during your visit. Please do always tell your server if something is not right - we would have been happy to replace them. As regards the wine, once again we would have been happy to offer you an alternative if you were not happy.

Went here for a work thing so wasn’t in control of where we ate. Having looked at the menu online seeing zero vegan options I was worried that I’d be sat drinking water and eating nothing in front of colleagues so I phoned ahead and was reassured that there were vegan options but that the menu on the website wasn’t current. Feeling better about the situation I arrived to see only one vegan starter, one vegan main and zero vegan desserts :( None of the vegan options were labelled vegan either so I only knew they were SFV because I asked. The starter option was some kind of pepper dish, I ordered it because there was nothing else expecting stuffed peppers or something, but was genuinely shocked when I was served literally 20 plain peppers on a plate. Meanwhile my colleagues are eating delicate salads, delicious looking chicken wings and fancy potato croquettes... I was upset to be honest as I felt forgotten and that a vegan option was a last thought when it came to menu development, and realised halfway through my 20 peppers that I wasn’t enjoying them. Then I got nervous because the only vegan main course, which I therefore had to order, was aubergine (literally no ones favourite vegetable) with yet more peppers. My colleagues had ordered loads of chips so I was hoping to turn this evening around with potato only to be told the chips had duck skin sprinkled on them. The staff who were so lovely and patient with our obnoxious group offered to bring me some non-duck skin chips which I really really appreciated. Watching my colleagues tuck into hearty portions of roasted meats, cauliflower gratins, buttered greens and more while I was faced with more plain(ish) veg was pretty sad and has been the only time in my four years of being vegan that I felt truly disappointed at my life choices. Then I sat through dessert with nothing while everyone else ate cheesecake, ice cream and chocolate tarts before I could leave. My group was large and difficult so I would like to acknowledge the great service, polite and thoughtful staff made me feel a lot better when I was getting embarrassed by my groups poor timekeeping skills. I really expected better from a place I’ve heard only good things about. The starter was definitely lacking, especially when compared to the standard of meal the non vegans were given, and then to be followed by a meal that was more of the same peppers but now with added aubergine was absolutely not worth £16. It’s so easy to make amazing vegan meals, and to not offer one even one vegan dessert (not even sorbet!?) was pretty rubbish. Vegan pies, tarts, curries, gourmet burgers, nut roast, pasta dishes are all things vegans love to see on a menu so it would be great to see something more like that in future. I’d recommend this place for drinks as staff are fantastic and atmosphere is lovely but the vegan food was not up to modern standards. (Great staff though guys thank you really sorry to complain)Next time, please let us know your specific dietary requirements and our kitchen will make something for you; we’ve nothing against vegans, I assure you. However, our menu is very much shaped by the superb local meat and fish sourced on our doorstep and we’re not afraid to admit it!

The best pizza I've ever eaten outside of Italy. Light thin base and lovely fresh topping, followed by a wonderful pannacotta. Polite and attentive staff with bonus points to the waitress for asking whether we wanted our coffees after the dessert. I highly recommend this restaurant. It's understandably popular, so you would have to make a reservation.

New owners but still providing a very good quality dining experience and service. Ceri looked after us very well and explained the dishes and how she and Matthew had taken over from Ken and Wendy who should be pleased their hard work to establish Olivers has not been wasted. We had booked a month ahead of our visit to Falmouth as we know from past experience that the restaurant is very popular and the Saturday we ate it was full and were turning people away. The food was as good as ever with very original touches. We had mackerel riillettes, scallops starters, hake, duo of pork for mains and a stem ginger panna cotta which was brilliant. The wines by the glass were delicious and the small bottle of prosecco was a great way of getting a single glass of fizz. Very good luck to this young couple's adventure

I’ve just got back from a lovely evening in Cave. I couldn’t fault it in any way. The food was great - lovely flavours, textures and surprisingly subtle for French food which I sometimes find a little overpowering in terms of salt and garlic. Wonderful service which was not too overbearing but quietly helpful and slightly interested in us as diners. I loved the ambience created by the lighting which is perfect for anyone over 40 and I didn’t have any problem reading the menu despite being 60. I would definitely visit again.
