We came here whilst visiting the village, first for coffee and cake (excellent), and then for a light lunch- toasted cheese sandwich and fries with salad- not much for vegetarians on the menu. We enjoyed these, but the cheese sandwich wasn't great, especially for the price. The 4 starts are for the ambiance, not the food! However, the surroundings were very relaxing, lovely views, and inside was a reminder of faded glory. I would recommend a visit here, and we would have stayed had we not booked into a home stay in the lower village. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. If you come here, do your homework on the history of the village and maybe read Mark Kitto's book- China Cuckoo to get a feel for the place. After busy Shanghai, it was a wonderful retreat.
