This place serves decent food in an authentic Tyrolean setting. It is, however, quite expensive for what it is.....a glass of wine costs double what you would normally pay in a smart bar.The answer is probably that the restaurant is located off the busiest shopping street and is a perfect tourist trap. I noticed that lots of tables were 'reserved' but in reality they were not.....the waiter just picked up the sign and asked us to seat ourselves.The next time I am in Merano it is unlikely I would eat here again unless there were no other options for some odd reason

We had a really nice experience here! For starters, the ambience was very nice. Rustic setting under an outdoor terrace. The servers were very fast and attentive. All looked very cute with traditional Lederhosen and dirndls.We started with their house dry white wine. Very good and reasonably priced.We had schnitzel with mushroom sauce, chicken steak with vegetables and our son had the chicken nuggets. Every dish was hot and very flavorful. During our return to Merano in 2019 Forsterbrau restaurant once again played a key role in our great time that we had. Visiting and eating in the restaurant is all around great experience. Service is excellent. All staff move around like well oiled machine, yet machine with a nice human touch and care.The food here is spot on. God combination of the classic Tyrolean and Italian cuisine, always with a slight twist as the seasonal ingredience allow. However all we tasted here was VERY GOOD. Can't wait to visit some time in the future. Sure there wil be next time.

Right in the middle of the Lauben pedestrian area and ideally placed for lunch.Nice table, under a nice big umbrella to keep the sun off.Staff always happy and smiling, with a very professional attitude. Orders taken, drinks on table, waiting for food.Have you ever had one of those meals where the smile on your face keeps getting bigger with every mouthful, because that is what I had.Schnitzel (Veal) potatoes and Prieselbeer Sauce (cranberry). Bit of a local delicacy.Very good food, very tasty and just the right size portion. I could easily have made myself look a pig and have gone back for more.Good local food is always nice to see on the menu, and this was no exception. A real go to place if you like good hearty, not messed with food.

I love the Gasthaus Hochmuth. Getting there is amazing as the cable car whisks you up to the top of the mountain in minutes. The view is simply jaw dropping! It was a beautiful sunny day and sitting on the terrace 1000m above Merano is a memory I will not forget.But it is a restaurant and the food is very good. What a place to linger and enjoy the Italian 'La Dolce Vita,' even though everybody speaks German first!Sausage lunch was excellent and filling...perfect before a hike to Leiter Alm.

Driving through Alto Adige, you come across this wonderful brewery and beergarden. The inside of the bar/restaurant is typically German, with waitstaff dressed in horsetrading and dirndls. The beer is good and the Bavarian-style German food, excellent. The surrounding mountains and nature are awsome, so be prepared for a great stop.

Seemingly hundreds of people sinking vast amounts of Forst beer from across the road to accompany the good plain Tirolean food. It's dusty, it's noisy and no place to wear your best clothes but great fun especially when there is live music

Restaurant close to the brewery has a big and well attended terrace. They have a good beer, varied and affordable wine card and rather extensive menu. Food is very Austrian, with a lot of meat. It's okay but not very special and not very cheap. Staff is efficient but they missed the personal touch. Food was there, shortly after we ordered it. At the end of the dinner the waiter offered a drink from the house. Good parking facilities.

The restaurant is situated on top of a mountain. The view in front is marvelous. The interior is very nice too. The restaurant serves local cuisine. I have been there several times and have never been disappointed. The service is very friendly and efficient too. I am quite often in this region. Beside the luferkeller in riffian this is my favorite place around Meran.
