A pretty little cafe in a lovely little courtyard which will please lovers of great coffee. The scones live up to their reputation and the cherry cola cake is inspired. Great service and generous portions make it well worth the inconvenience of a few wasps who also seem to have read the justifiably excellent reviews received by this thoroughly excellent little cafe. Cannot recommend more highly.

Friendly service. We were made very welcome even though a café primarily used by local people. Best full English we can ever remember having and we consider two breakfasts plus coffee and tea for £12.00 an absolute bargain. So much so we returned later on in the afternoon to grab a coffee before catching our train back to Barmouth. Thanks again for the meals and help with directions in town. See you again soon hopefully

Came here with my father and cousin on Sunday. There was nothing fancy on the menu - just the usual cafe food, but there was a decent choice. All three of us opted for the lasagne, and we very much enjoyed it. It came with chips, which were nice enough. You received a generous plateful. In fact, I left half of my chips as I was just too full. I would definitely recommend the lasagne here.

A recommended visit for the experience, just don't expect great food. You'd think that tea with scones, jam and cream was a fairly safe bet, unfortunately this was out of scope of any catering college course these guys attended. The scones were microwaved and then loaded with butter to the point they were a soggy mess. The seedless jam wasn't great though redeemed by the freshly and expertly opened pot of Roddas cream. My better half decided that the buttered mess didn't quite hit the mark and asked if they had another one that they hadn't destroyed. After 5 minutes they found a reject that must have passed it's best before date by many months judging by the texture. They'd not got round to washing the cups so the pot of tea became 2 mugs of tea. After removing our tea bags, we decided after 10 minutes we'd have to go and ask for the 'optional' milk. The toilet door is conveniently placed so that whilst waiting for it's current occupant to vacate, you get to mingle with the guests waiting to pay. The waitress, has a laid back slightly sarcastic humorous style that I found funny however the guest that was questioning her ability to calculate the change owed didn't find it quite so entertaining. Maths wasn't her strongest skillset.

I went here with my Hubby for an early lunch on Easter Tuesday. It has a free car park and is situated next to the main train line. The old-fashioned interior is full of railway memorabilia. The Waitress at the counter was very welcoming. The food was quick to arrive (would imagine there would be a longer wait during busier times). Hubby enjoyed his 2 plump sausages, 2 fried eggs and chips and I was pleased with my chunky chilli/jacket potato/side salad. We shared a large pot of tea. The bill came to £14.60 and because I wanted to use my bank card, I had to pop round to the shop nextdoor to pay. The toilets are on the platform accessed via the shop. The shop sells a selection of books and toys for the railway enthusiast.

Came here for some lunch, they had a gluten free menu which is always great for me, so I had pasta bolognese which was lovely, however the pizza that my partner had was a little bit bland though. Quick service though. Lovely staff.

My Wife and I called for lunch. We were on holiday and therefore had not been here before, there was a queue waiting for tables and when we sampled the food we realised why! There was everything from home cooked meals, freshly baked pies and quiches and deliciously sinful cakes and puddings. My Wife had chicken curry which was served with rice and a side salad and was beautifully presented, the portions were generous and it was delicious. The curry appeared to be home made, I’ve certainly never tasted anything like that in a jar.Really impressed, thank you and absolutely recommend.

I first went to this place two years ago and was really impressed I left a positive review. During the summer of 2018 I was fortunate enough to spend a lot of time in the local area and I often went to this place knowing I would be served good quality food and never once was I disappointed. We returned a few weeks ago and was really impressed in how they have regenerated the local area and the hard work and effort they have done over the past few years has started to pay off. The quality of the food here is second to non in the area, the two owners are genuine, friendly and very proud of there business and take great pride in the food they serve which speaks volumes about them and there business! They have invested a lot of money and time into getting this business started and developing the campsite and this does need to be paid for. Asking for 50p contribution to use the facilities if not eating in the establishment is reasonable considering they have now installed a new sewer system at there expense instead of putting the sewerage into the local waterway as the previous owner did.If you want cheap, microwaveable, fast food maybe this isn’t the place for you. If you want good quality, locally sourced food cooked properly then this place will not disappoint. If they are not too busy, spend time talking to the owners and you too will see how friendly and passionate they are which is really refreshing. Never one have I been in here and been greeted by someone who hates there job and doesn’t want to be there, very much the opposite which is a rarity these days!

Called in for lunch today, a lovely welcome great coffee & stunning location but unfortunately that’s where the good points end.Seafood chowder looked like baby food, a bowl of slop! I’ve never seen anything like it!seafood platter was tasteless! Smoked mackerel was definitely out of a packet from Aldi! £12.50 is a joke! Not sure what they had done with the tomatoes but they were very odd!I couldn’t wait to get out of there and definitely will not go back!Dear houseuphighThank you for spending the time to leave us a review. We are sorry to hear you weren’t impressed with your meal choices. Re the seafood platter I can assure you our smoked mackerel is not from aldi. Didn’t realise we have tomatoes on it but this must be in our roasted vegetables I can only presume. In regards to the chowder I’m sorry you have this opinion of it as it’s one of our best selling dishes and we’ve never had feedback of it looking like baby food before! It’s a shame you didn’t feel you could have mentioned this to a member of the team who would have been able to change your dishes for you.Regards
