Staff and ambiance wonderful. Great selection of beer and fantastic array of Laurel and Hardy memorabilia, that really enhanced the decor. We went twice in three days, once for Sunday lunch and then for dinner. Mid-week they have a special menu that was very reasonably priced, we ate from the specials board, as that did have GF and Vegan options. Food was very good, but not great allergy advice on the main menu and very limited gluten free options, had to ask for each dish, less still choice for vegans. They were very accommodating though, never made to feel bothersome and I was offered a vegetable gravy with my roast dinner. Spotlessly clean and clearly a popular choice with locals, always a great sign. Only GF dessert was ice cream, no hardship, locally produced and delicious. Exactly what you wish for in a pub that serves great food. They are dog friendly too, even though we didnât take ours.

What can i say...this was probably our worst experience of eating out ever!I don't believe these guys are taking the food side of there business seriously. We entered the pub expecting someone to greet us and show us to our table..nope, we had to queue for 10mins at the bar to be told we were sitting at table 15. Taking our seats and looking forward to our food we waited.... after 15 mins of twidling our thumbs a gentlemen approached us to take our order...didnt mention drinks, I did requesting a bottle of wine, jug of water, a couple fizzy drinks, simple. I had my doubts when the gentleman struggled to understand a word of english but i'm an optimist and thought everything would turn out just fine. How wrong i was. No drinks arrived after 25 mins so i questioned Manuel, who apologied and went to sort the drinks. As the food arrived so did our wine, oh well we can deal with that. My meal and my wifes meal arrived, then the kids fish and chips turned up...oh hang on a minute the kids ordered cumberland sausage...the fish returned to the kitchen and miraculously two cumberland sausage turned up 5mins later...only i think they forgot to cook them, cold. At this point i spoke to the manager and left. Never again.

Very welcoming local pub worth travelling to. Well presented with a warm welcome. Not a massive place, but very accommodating and well run. Very clean and tidy with a tasty menu of traditional pub food in a comforting atmosphere. Dog friendly, we were very pleased we discovered this pub.

I was expecting just a basic pub with pretty average food but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and very nice service that we received on the two visits we made to the Greyhound Inn over the New Year period. The pub itself is pretty basic inside but a nice touch was found in the toilets with complimentary toiletries. On our visit they had three Real Ales on offer, all of a decent quality. They have a specials board and all the meals are reasonably priced. I had chicken pie on the first night and a steak off the specials board on the second night. Both meals very tasty and decent portions also. As long as youâre not expecting something grand within, youâll find very pleasant, helpful staff and lovely food washed down with excellent ales. They also cater very well for anyone who is celiac
Four of us stayed here for one night on Saturday 3 August and wished we had longer, had a great meal at night after a superb day walking in the surrounding countryside, the rooms were really wellappointed with little extras like biscuits and bottled water, quality bathroom products and towels, all followed by a lovely breakfast. Thanks to all the staff for a great time.

WOW WHERE DO I START, When i visited this pub it was meant to be for a nice family get together and infact it was disgusting the place was dirty the food was dripping in fat i ordered fish and chips and i didnt know it came with a side of DIRTY OIL and RAW CHIPS it was the worst meal id eaten probably due to the chef drinking the profits who my partner partner spotted necking a bottle of red my children came down with sickness and diarrhoea and belive me that was not a pretty site the lady behind the bar more than likely the owner was the most stuck up person you could possibly meet in pub in the lakes all she did was order her minions around its the worst pub ive visited in the lakes the staff are rude and ( mostly KIDS) the glasses we were served still had other peoples mouth marks around and the prices where disgraceful for such poor quality food and not even mention yhe toilet hygeine was absoultly foul there was urine and tissue all over i wouldnt take a dog in there even with being dog friendly i SHALL NEVER EVER Visit this pub ever again i hope enviromental health have a field day there !I feel that this may be a good time to remind readers that those who choose to write a review need not ever to have visited the location they are reviewing. and sometimes reasons for reviews are aside from a simple desire to share accurate information.Whilst the vast majority of reviews - positive as well as negative - are informative for potential visitors, there is nothing that can top coming along and seeing for yourself. We pride ourselves on our beautiful traditional Lakeland pub, loved by generations. Set in the heart of the stunning Duddon valley, and cared for by friendly and dedicated staff, we think you'll agree that we have one of the best pubs in Cumbria.

I didn't know what to expect in a pub seemingly in the middle of nowhere and was delighted with the menu, which was an assortment of traditional pub fare, local meats, and lovely puddings (desserts). It's a busy place so call for a reservation. Service may be a tad slow due to the busyness, however it's a great opportunity to soak in the ambiance of this old building. I left wanting to go back for a second and possibly third meal however only went on my last evening so couldn't :(

My husband and I came here for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed a couple of drinks outside on the upstairs terrace initially, which was lovely, then ate in the bar area downstairs.Food (3 courses) was amazing - especially the scotch egg! Service was prompt and overall it was a lovely evening. Really recommend! Hi 254alia, thank you for taking the time to leave such a great review, and congratulations on your anniversary!
