We live in Gidea Park and often meet friends for dinner in London (where we all work), but for a change, we thought we'd meet locally. Our friends came in from Billericay, three stops on the train to Shenfield from us - absolutely perfect! After a quick drink next door, we walked into Empire. A lovely welcome, relaxed before being jumped on for quick service, enjoyed our poppadoms and a drink and then we ordered! My girlfriend and I ordered chicken tickka and salmon tikka starters for our main cours, but with loads of veggie dishes; sag paneer, onion bhajee, sag aloo, cauliflower bhajee, coconut rice (which wasn't on the menu, but they accommodated us) - all were absolutely delicious with plenty to go around, which our husbands were delighted about. The men ordered chicken shaslick and chicken tikka massala with breads - lovely and fresh and, suffice it to say, not a morsel remaining on our plates! Good house wine (we didn't think we'd drink a whole bottle - how silly of us!), and to finish off, a complimentary drink for us all. Great service, super staff, scrumptious food ................... no more getting the last train home from Liverpool Street for us - Shenfield was ideal and very much looking forward to our next visit - thank you very much.

We have been coming to the raj for 10 years. The service is fantastic and the food is absolutely delicious. We have never had a bad meal and the staff make you feel so welcome. We have dined in various groups, as a couple, with friends and all the family. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed and is the best Indian in the area. Our local curry house, and honestly the best curry both of us have ever had. The veggie biryani is perfect plus the saag paneer is perfect. Iâve had several of the chicken curries over the years - jalfrezi and korai are my personal favourites. Diligent service but always busy; try and go early if you want to get your food super quick!

My wife and I have lived in the area for the past five years and had never visited the restaraunt. We popped in one Sunday and had a fantastic meal. The food, the service all top class.We decided to go back again tonight and the boss remembered us and gave us the same table as before, even remembering my wife's wine order from our previous visit even though he wasnt the one serving us.Once again the food and service was outstanding, and so happy to have this gem on our doorstep!Thank you for your fantastic feedback, we are glad that you have enjoyed the best of the award-winning Garden of India. Our food here was excellent and made freshly but quickly. It was a Wednesday night and so pretty empty but there was little atmosphere which is a shame but can be worked on as the food is worth 5/5. Thanks for the awesome review, Nicki! We work hard to meet expectations like yours, and weâre happy to hear that you enjoyed your meal, Wednesday is middle of the week therefore it's not that busy night for us but please visit us on weekends we hope you will see the beautiful atmosphere at jehan curry hut. Went here on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed.Nice warm welcome and service. Usual standard dishes available but also the exclusive menu with a different kind of Indian food to the norm was great. I had a lamb shank Mogul style and it was beautiful.Had an early table with the kids and everyone loved it.Definitely going back for some more of the exclusive mogul dishes.

Eight of us visited on Saturday 27th April, for my daughter's 21st birthday. We live in Shenfield but the Indian restaurants there are of mediocre quality with high prices. Found the Spice Masala about 8 months ago and although it's a 20 minute drive it's worth it. We had an excellent meal with very attentive service. We didn't mention the birthday but the waiters must have seen that she had some cards to open at the table. At the end of the meal they brought out an ice cream cake with a candle and sang Happy Birthday! Food was very tasty, meat/chicken tender and flavourful. In fact we drove past on Sunday morning and said we would like to go back for more! This has become out favourite Indian restaurant for miles. Highly recommended.
