It took us a while to find this restaurant as itâs situated at the back of the golf club building. We visited at lunchtime for a take away and had a drink from the bar while we waited for our food to be prepared. It was fresh, well cooked and delicious. Will certainly be back for more when we return to Kirkcudbright.

Took a chance not knowing whether previous reviews related to current owners, excellent singapore Vermicelli, chicken Foo Yung, chicken and cashews, curry,fried rice and free prawn crackers, just about £20. Huge portions of noodles and rice. Excellent quality, quick service, 10 mins form entering sshop to leaving with food. Had a return visit the following day, just as good so no fluke.

Canton is by far my favourite takeaway in kirkcudbright. The deep fried sliced spicy chicken is amazing. Good portions, good prices, friendly staff. Always ready on time if you phone an order in or short wait if you order at the counter. Always feel full and very satisfied after a meal. Have never had a bad meal from canton !

Ordered chicken pakora and meat samosa starters, also chicken tikka, king prawn madras mains with rice. The chicken pakora was disgusting - a rubbery tasteless batter concealing what had a consistency more of tofu. The "meat" was limp and white on the outside with no fibre and the centre of each piece was grey. This "meat" was replicated in the chicken tikka main course and the king prawns were small, few, and tough. The only adequate things were the samosas, rice, and popadoms. Will not be going again.
