The town is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas and is a gateway to the neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh. It is on the National Highway 22 between Chandigarh and Shimla, and it is the terminus of the Kalka-Shimla Railway. To the south of Kalka is Pinjore, and the industrial village of Parwanoo (Himachal Pradesh) is to the north on the NH 22. Industrial development has led to a continuous urban belt from Pinjore to Parwanoo, but Kalka remains largely unaffected by these developments. Nearby is Chandimandir Cantonment where the Western Command of the Indian army is based. In 2013 it has come under the jurisdiction of Panchkula Municipal Corporation and its municipal committee has been dissolved.

It was my first visit to JW for a meal. We were a little early and settled for The Cafe.We ordered Rogan Josh, Chicken Biryani, Amritsari kulcha and Missi roti.While the chicken biryani and missi roti were okay nothing outstanding, the rogan josh and amritsari kulcha were way below local dhabas. I would recommend that the Chef in Charge, try the kulcha at the booth in Phase 9, Mohali.Biryani by Kilo in Mohali serves better biryani!The serving size is rather small.It was a very disappointing evening.Dear Guest,Thank you for choosing to share your inexperience at JW Marriott Chandigarh. On sunday afternoon we visited with group of family friends. Nice location, amble parking nice place to take even ladies with you. They have fresh beer available and good snacks. Look out for offer of the day if you want to save some buck.. Highly recommended to chill out in afternoon.

Went for Evening snacks and also dinner on 2 different occasions, the restaurant is located on railway road, kalka, just 200 metres from station.The food is very good and service is all fine, they have variety of food though the indian cuisine is the best, also the ambience is quite good and hygenicprices are reasonable and it's approx 125-150pp for vegOverall a place to have meals if you are in Kalka

I really had a great experience staying in Lalit. It was my first visit at lalit Chandigarh but the property was awesome the staffs were very cooperative and kind. The had maintained the hygien and cleanliness. I would specially like to mention some staffs name who were very good during my stay Ms. Shahiba and Ms. Rameshwari.
