Family Restaurant H. Ramli NST

One of the few good local restaurants, the "Family" is well know by the local people of Berastagi and there are always people eating. They also have an English menu card. We had 2 dinners and 1 lunch over there and it was great!

The restaurant is full of flies. They have lit candles on the table but it's not enough to keep the flies away. My son fell sick after eating in this restaurant. Do not eat here.

I guess this is one of the old time favourite chinese restaurant for those people who grew up in Brastagi and moved to other cities somewhere else for some reasons. The restaurant is typical of chinese management and serving, so dont expect anything fancy. But the food served is quite ok. Acceptable.

Cafe Raymond

This restaurant is located down a side street close to the town monument in the center. It serves great food for reasonable prices. Western and Indonesian food is available. The fruit shakes are good and cheap too. They can pack lunches for you if you order the day before. This might be a better option than getting it from your hotel. Be prepared, the service is a bit slow, but worth the wait!

We walked in to get some breakfast and I said hello to the lad who was stood behind the counter to be blankly stared at until we sat down. He then served a set of local customers their drinks and sat with them while looking at laughing at us while we looked for a menu! So we sat down waiting for somone to maybe ask us what we wanted and we were never approached just laughed at. As we got up to leave the young lad just laughed and and stared at us! The most rude place I have visited in South East Asia in my 10 months traveling!

The Biji Hitam means Black Beans (coffee is black beans or gold beans ?)
Biji Hitam has spacious locations perfect for long conversations. The noise level is relax silence with (if you lucky) rain drops sounds ! so you’ll never have to needs a jazz or any music, it's natural. The coffee itself is good ! If you want to impress your date, you can order pour over which serve elegant with carave like a alcohol drink.
Biji Hitam barista is good knowledge about the coffee and products and sociable gracious.
must visit coffee spot and hey it's instagramable place but not a luxury type.

Atmosphere was quiant and service was efficient but both time we were there, we did not see alot of guest, only 20% filled so we are unsure if it's a popular eatery.
Food was ok and edible.

Jabu Berastagi

JABU is a slice of paradise only 2kms from the city. You drive up through the archway and feel like you have transported to another place. The handmade wood furnishings are are beautiful, the view over the city is stunning day or night and the staff are so friendly, there is a lovely family vibe and everyone is very happy.

It has fine dining quality food and atmosphere, with very good prices. I had a healthy smoothie and the balsamic chicken followed by a coffee. I returned the next day for more coffee art from the espresso machine and a club Sandwich. Everything was delicious.

JABU is a project of passion for owner Fernandoz, who is a trained chef and barista himself amongst many other talents! This comes across in the attention to detail in everything from the furniture, fresh ingredients, menu and vibe

It is great for a relaxing treat after a busy day hiking up a volcano. They also have live music at the weekend

I wish you all the best in the future and thank you for the best hospitality I've experienced from you and all your staff

Warung Wajik & Pecal Bahagia

Reviewed By wilfridblair - Ottawa, Canada

Our lunch here was the best of three restaurants we tried in Berastagi. All of our choices including their juices were delicious. Fish was fresh and crispy; vegetables cooked to perfection. Our server was kind and explained the different choices to us in excellent English.
Highly recommended.
