There's plenty of restaurants around that, instead of cooking some solid comfort food, try to be the next creative scoop of the year. Didier Galet is one of them. The decor / interior is OK - I did not particularly like the chairs and the wooden boards for bread and salt which, in my view, are not in line with the modernist image the chef wants of this establishment. Service is fine if a tad too little formal and a little hiccup I had at the beginning. The food has been a run downhill. The first course of scallops with truffle was as surprising as the matching might sound unusual, and it was actually very good. Then a fois gras came which had little identity and then a deer in a wine sauce which made no sense to me. The meat was not of good quality and the sauce was worse. The dessert was made of a rose sorbet - good idea - with some unidentifiable roll beside. Not really memorable.

This restaurant is a tale of two halves. It is two buildings kind of nailed together, the half we were in had a corrugated plastic roof, which alerted us to the fact that it was raining outside. The place was full, we had reserved in advance, something I would recommend. The menu was a large blackboard placed on our table. We went through an aperitif served with olives and a starter of scampi for me. I was just explaining how awesome this was, when I tried my fiancee's goats cheese creation and wished I had picked that. Main course was lamb and if I have any criticism, it would be that the gratin dauphinois, were not as awesome as everything else. Food was washed down with wine that was €28 a bottle, a little steep this.
The next day we headed to Spa and on the way we reviewed our evening. Our bill was €100 and we thought of all the things you could spend this money on. A nice shirt, that may last years, for instance. All we had for our cash were memories, but what memories they are. My fiancee said this was the best dinning experience she had ever had. So was this money well spent? Yes, absolutely. There are lots of places to eat in Aywaille. You may want to walk around and pick something else. However, if you want to make yourself and those with you very happy, visit this place.

13 dishes + wine for about 100€ pp., in a clean, quiet place.
But 13 incredible dishes, with unique tastes and audacious mariages, all presented in an elegant, well-thought way. This is not just a lunch, it is an experience.
Service is perfectly timed, 2 hours for the 13 dishes. Amount of food is well thought, too : you eat very well, but not too much - not starving like you could in some high gastronomy places.
The chef choses fresh, local products to enhanced his meals.
Wine is perfectly chosen.
Staff is smiling, yet reserved.
The restaurant is lost in some old small village, about 20mins far from the nearest highway.
Advice : if you want a quiet place, prefer lunch during week days. If you're looking for a friday evening... make your reservation soon enough !

We have been to Le Narval two years in a row with our diving club. Last year we had dinner and dived after dinner, this year we went diving had a meal and went diving again. The dive site is an old quarry with tame carps and sturgeons. The food is fantastic. I can recommend the pave sur pierre, a big piece of prime meat you cook yourself on a hot stone. The owner is very friendly and the service perfect. You need a bit of time though, because it takes at least half an hour to heat the stone!

Nice restaurant, we sat outside because of the warm weather.
Had the duo of Raclette cheese and Rebluchon: each cheese was presented in a pan that needed to go into the "barbecue" oven on your table to be heated.
the melted cheese on your potatoes was very nice with some salad (24 euros/pers). We ordered a plate of local charcuterie meat to go with it (9 euros)
Wine was a bit strange: you got a whole bottle for 21 euro and paid what you drank, so we paid 10,5 euros.
Very nice: free little starter of smoked Scottish salmon, very nice.

All in all not a bad experience. Inexpensive and friendly but we waited a bit more than an hour for 1 salad, 1 lasagna, 1 special of the day and 1 halfroast chicken with fries and we were the only ones on the Terrace outside... And in the end, they brought us the cheque and it was the wrong one (in fact they brought us the bill of another table of 2 people so that would have been cheaper but we were honest of course and asked to pay our own bill...) Might return. Looks nice inside too, but very easygoing on the service.
