La Closerie de Kerdrain

Drinks in the garden were very pleasant before going in for dinner. Very attentive and charming staff, including la patronne herself. Inside the feeling was very "Vielle France" where the décor was in a state of genteel decay. The service was impeccable but rather formal and overbearing. But one can expect all of that in this style of establishment. What really fell short was the food ! A crab meat starter beautifully presented but lacking in taste. This was followed by a roti of veal cutlets which were once again very short of flavour, and slightly chewy. I can't remember the dessert, I suppose I had lost interest by that time and just wanted to escape.

Le Borsalino

Let me just say that even after working here, I still get pizzas from Le Borsalino, all the time. I won't try to dissuade you from ordering something else if you're really not in the mood for pizza, but seriously, it's what this place is about. There is an insane amount of thought and effort behind every pizza on the menu. The tomato sauce is homemade, as is the pizza dough (which the chef lets rise for three days, sometimes more), and all of the ingredients are selected for quality and inter-pizza compatibility.
Pizzas at Le Borsalino are also kind of a ridiculous value (in a good way). For example, at 9,90 euros, you can get the Orientale- a little more than 30 cm (in diameter) of mozzarella, chorizo, merguez sausage, black olives, and multicolored bell peppers. I also really like the 4 Fromages, but I get it with a tomato sauce base instead of crème fraiche.

Restaurant La Fromentine

We first ate at this restaurant five years ago when we first visited Auray, and have always wanted to return. It is situated halfway down the hill that leads to the harbour, with Seating on the pedestrianised road outside.
Food is very reasonably priced with one course for €10, two courses for €14 and three courses for €17. The adults had a main course each - beautifully braised veal with dauphinoise potatoes and veg, and hake in a spiced coconut sauce, served with rice. It was like very good home cooking. This was followed by two good espressos.
The kids' menu comprised a main course and desert for €7. Our two little people chose the ubiquitous chicken goujons and chips. The chicken was beautifully cooked and sliced up. The chocolate mousse was delicious.
Two good meals here - we hope to return again someday!

Such a great find! Friendly, fun and chatty owner with sweet staff. Lovely with kids and the crepes were amazing! Best of the holiday! Good job we found this at the end of our stay or we would have been very fat!!! Try the Tartiflex crepes. Its heaven on a cheesy dream washed down with local cider . Auray has some very interesting old architecture too. Nice afternoon spent in the pouring rain.

Something was missing, I felt? Having eaten in Michelin Starred restaurants recently this place was trying to be something it really wasn't quite ready to be. Creative, presented well with boundless enthusiasm but lacking...Dinner for 5 was €400.

Off season, we rest a bit on Sunday evening and Monday.

We managed to get seats on the tears right at the front, with a wonderful view of the bridge and the river. And what wonderful food! I had a seafood platter, which was truly wonderful, with oysters, bulots, langoustine, prawns and ,such more. though they were very busy, service was swift and attentive. Just fantastic!

Creperie Saint Sauveur

This cafe is highly recommended by TripAdviser reviewers and with good reason.
During our stay in St Goustin we dined here twice.
Our first visit was lunch and we had a Crepe au Citron and a Galette with ham and cheese. Both were lovely. We also had a half litre of cider. Total €13.20
We returned a couple of days later for dinner. This time we had a bacon, egg and cheese Galette €6.10, and an omelet with cheese and onions with lovely dressed green salad. €8.70. We also had a litre of cider €10. For dessert - a caramel and salted butter crepe €4.20 and a crepe with lemon €3.30. Even though I always opt for lemon crepes I have to say the caramel one was delicious. Total €32.30.
I would recommend you book this cafe. When we arrived just after 1900 only one table had people on it, however within 15 minutes all but one table for two was full. It was a Saturday night in October.

Creperie aux Galettes d'Antan

Restaurant 1900. Ambiance feutrée. décors "Cabaret Belle Epoque." Service le soir uniquement, et en costume d'époque. Terrasse ombragée et fleurie.

Reviewed By Christopher R - Axminster, United Kingdom

As soon as you enter the restaurant you know this is not your average creperie. The decor is flamboyant, maybe kitsch, with many photos and pictures of a bygone age alluding to entertainment or the local area. On special nights they have a full cabaret but on a "normal" night Willem provides an entertaining Karaoke where guest diners are invited to participate.
Overall a thoroughly enjoyable evening at a modest price.
