Well located hotel in Areopoli
Reviewed By madmaxQcHotel was a bit vintage, but very well located, very clean had a parking included. Room had a balcony, fridge and television. Room was very big and had a lot of storage options. You do hear a bit of street noise, but Areopoli is pretty quiet anyway. Breakfast is either a buffet or served at your table, depending on the number of guests at the hotel. There was bread, hard boiled or fried eggs, fabulous yogurt, honey, jam, pastries and some Greek-style fried dough. Wi-Fi connection in our room was not really working. I had a hard time getting explanations in English from the owner, but maybe that's because my girlfriend is from the Greece and the owner was more comfortable speaking in her own language. Apart from this communication issue, we had a pleasant stay.

Reviewed By Peter BWe stayed here for three nights at the end of out tour of the Peleponnese. It was much the largest and most high-end of stops. The room was spacious with a balcony with spectacular views of the bay and old fishing village. The hotel is newly built as a set of traditional Mani towers - detached and each I think with three rooms - nice pool area. The only real drawback is that the hotel is about 100 metres above sea level, so there is a bit of a walk down steep steps and path to the sea (no beach, but swimming possible off the boat dock). Good exercise walking back after dinner in the village.

convenient and comfortable
Reviewed By 35912This hotel is located very near downtown, also a grocery store and gas station. Parking is free and ample. Our room was very large with convenient electrical outlets and a clean bathroom. There was a kitchen with stove and refrigerator but minimal pots and pans. It was reasonably priced and a comfortable stay. On checkin, there was a pleasant and helpful manager; on checkout, we couldn't find anyone but left since we had already paid. I would recommend it for its proximity to the downtown and for its large and clean room.

Built completely out of the stone from its birthplace, the mother land of Mani, «TRAPELA», a new traditional hotel, is situated at the entrance to the picturesque town of Ares, Areopoli. The multi-level stone-built building creates a warm and mystifying atmosphere which pleasantly surprises the visitor. Wood and stone dominate all parts of the hotel, but it is notably impressive, with its unique elegance, in the breakfast room. The breakfast buffet has been carefully selected and plentiful with not only traditional delicacies but others as well.

Reviewed By Cos PI visited the hotel in September 2021 for a couple of nights. It is a good hotel, in a central location of the town of Areopolis. The staff was really friendly and helpful and the room comfortable and stylish. I enjoyed having the breakfast in there yard. I would stay there again.

Horrendous Group "Tour Experience
Reviewed By Robert FPeter Sommer Tour May 2/3. No hot water for 2 days no matter how long water ran. Room 201 does not resemble any of the pictures at the website. Room had worn stained bedcover, toilet seat not attached to toilet, desk chair seat not attached to frame, no sink plug, and side chair very frayed and worn. Decent served buffet breakfast. Probably the worse hotel experience in 50 years of travel. There were 12 guests plus 2 guides on this stay and none of us had hot water whatsoever.

Antares is located in a small historic and preserved traditional settlement on the southern outskirts of Areopoli (800 m from town center), in a pristine, un-spoilt and precious natural environment. The hotel of distinct architecture, comprising a neighborhood of four stone-built historic buildings and three independent dwellings, was restored and conserved with the utmost of care from the remnants of this early 1800's structure.

Just before our last few days, we almost thought we should have wrapped up earlier, saving our exploration of the Mani area of the Peloponnese for another time. Thank God we didn't do that! The Mani region is special: breathtaking, forlorn, powerful. But it wouldn't have been nearly as memorable to us without basing our stay at Antares. The hotel is the most perfect adaptation of the local architecture we could imagine. The gardens nestled among the buildings were bursting with pomegranates, lavender, tomatoes; the rooms' deep cool stone walls had charming windows tipped open with lovely breeze rippling the linen curtains. The bedding and bath were first-rate, and everything done with great care and attention to beauty. But the most spectacular things about Antares were the breakfasts and our hosts. Breakfasts are a four-course affair at Antares! Every day something unique; locally inspired and sourced; beautifully seasoned and presented; and magical. Jammy eggs drizzled with local EVOO; a fresh fennel, orange and thyme salad; and lightly smoked trout from a neighbor? With dark chocolate buttercream and biscuit cake for dessert? C'mon. Our hosts - a threesome we won't forget soon. They're so interested in the region, so committed to sharing its charms. We had a wonderful post-breakfast 'meeting' each morning with Giorgios, determining what we'd explore that day. His vast knowledge of each town, road, beach, and taverna was only matched by his passion for history. One day he sent us to explore a remote monastery, where we untied a rope on the gates to let ourselves in, and wandered through a chapel filled with ancient wall paintings. No signs, no lines, no tickets, just an awe-filled wandering on our own which we'd never have done without his direction. They lent us beach and picnic equipment, checked on our days, and by the end of a short stay, they already seemed like friends we'd have forever. We are so grateful for this place, and we hope to return. Meanwhile, we'll be happy if this note encourages someone else to enjoy the very special experience that is Antares!

Reviewed By PFaraThe hotel is in the area of Areopoli very close to the center. It is suitable for families. However, the hot water is never enough and the third or fourth member of the family must settle with cold water. The breakfast choices are below average with a lack of imagination. The beds are not comfortable at all and the ground floor apartments are very humid. It should not be your first choice for staying.

View of the vast sea and one of the most beautiful sunset. The decoration details that strictly maintain the form of the Mani tradition. The service is absolutely friendly, catering to your every need. In conclusion a wonderful place both for short excursions as well as for long vacations.
