We had a lovely bright room with a bath overlooking the loch. Staff were very friendly. Good food. Great atmosphere. Would recommend the one mile woodland walk to Applecross House where there is an idyllic walled garden

A lovely annex accommodation in the remote Appledore peninsula

This Accommodation was well appointed with everything a guest could need. There is a key safe entry so the owners need not be in upon arrival, this was useful. a minor point - all the breakfast food was in the room - cereals, milk, orange juice, jams, yoghurts in the fridge and the owners delivered fresh bread and croissants to the room. A continental breakfast would have been perfect if meat, cheese and tomatoes were delivered as well! Lovely location in 'the middle of nowhere!'

Amazing Scottish hideaway

Reviewed By peterzqzq

Having travelled around the Scottish Islands and the mainland west coast this is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed so much we have rebooked for October. Owing to its isolated location, Spindrift and that of Applecross itself for that matter, will not be to everybody's taste (but why go to the Scottish West Coast if you don't want the isolation!) There are numerous walks out of the property heading both north and south and we were glad to be out of our car for the duration of our stay not to mention the lovely pebble beach directly in front of the house. The annex is part of the property itself with a stunning view over looking the Inner Sound with Skye in the back ground. We were not that lucky to see any notable sea life from our window during our three night stay although we did have a nuclear submarine sail past our window one morning. The annex is spotlessly clean with a coastal themed décor in keeping with its Hebridean location and is not too overtly touristy Scottish. The layout of the room allows you to sit relaxing or eating a meal from the dinning table with an undisturbed view of the sea. The kitchen area could be described as cosy but we found it to be perfect for our needs in preparing our breakfast and evening meal. There are no oven facilities but all other appliances were present and we were not lacking for anything really. The fridge was delightfully stocked for our requirements including smoked salmon , ham ,eggs and even fresh home made bread delivered on our arrival amongst other things. If you require a big main hot meal of the day then that does require some research to find out what is open 'locally' especially with covid restrictions still in force. We paid £139 per night which, compared to the ridiculous prices charged around the honeypots of the likes of Loch Lomond and Glen Coe on the way through the Highlands, was amazing value . Finally , I think what really sealed it for us was our host Sue. She was so helpful on our arrival and was keen to ensure we had all our requirements for our stay although we didn't need much more than what she had already provided. A lovely Scottish hideaway.

Peace and Tranquility

Have stayed with Janet & Lulu over the years and have always been looked after superbly. Janet's hospitality is second to none. The en-suite bedroom is lovely and warm, very clean and extremely comfortable. The delicious breakfast is never a bother for Janet and you never leave the table feeling hungry. The walks around Ragged Acre can be as rigorous as you wish, you can climb the mountains or wander down to the shore or take a leisurely 2 -3 mile stroll to the Applecross Inn.

Relaxed, happy and clean.

Ali and Seonag lovely happy chatty hosts, offering clean comfortable rooms and lovely breakfast at a very reasonable price. The b and b also offers a well stocked shop with a post office (shut Sundays). Found this b and b at height of Covid, and this was one of 4 properties that stood up during Covid and said it would be available in September. Please note that Highlands summer season ends August bank holiday and so you must book evening meal as eateries are thin on the ground in September. (Seonag advised us to do that when we booked). We booked at Applecross Inn (see their website for online booking).

A home away from home

I wrote a review of Tigh Na Mara a few years ago, and since then I have had the pleasure of returning several times. No visit to the Highlands would be complete for me without a stay with Ken and Gwendy, and their wonderful dogs, Charlie and Paddy. Every visit has been consistently wonderful. The bedroom is cosy and comfortable, with great views to Skye. You can see the Old Man of Storrs from the window if you know where to look! Everything is spotlessly clean, including the spacious bathroom. Gwendy makes a fabulous breakfast to start you on your way, and she and Ken are a font of knowledge on how to access the myriad hiking trails and hidden gems of the Applecross Peninsula. I can't say enough about the warmth and hospitality to be found at Tigh Na Mara, and with Ken and Gwendy Griffin. I could go on and on, but you'll just have to go and discover this treasure for yourself!

Much recommended. Henry was incredibly helpful and kind. We arrived in pouring rain on our bikes. Henry took our clothes and washed and dried them. The room was very clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view onto the hillside. Breakfast was good.

A Superb Stay

Reviewed By wendyrU5075HH

We stayed two nights at Shell cottage in their oyster suite. The room was very clean and comfortable, with superb views across to Skye. It had an excellent shower room. Downstairs there was a very comfortable lounge and dining area. Our hosts, Kate and Niklas, were very helpful, courteous, and friendly. Our breakfasts were superb; wonderfully cooked, very original, and beautifully presented. We could not find fault with our experience. The surrounding area is stunningly picturesque and there are many wonderful walks to be savoured. We wholeheartedly recommend Shell Cottage for an uplifting holiday and hope to return soon.
