Great hotel , perfect break
Reviewed By Tim RWent in may, weather was great. Room was clean and had all facilities, staff kept it clean and stocked every day, including bottled water. We had half board and the breakfast buffet was plentiful and with a good selection of dishes including omelettes cooked to order The evening buffet had a great selection of dishes including salads and veg dishes . Everyday was different and all was well cooked , although some dishes were a little over salted. It has its own beach with loungers which are included in price. The beach is a combo of sand , gravel and stones but the sea is reasonably safe There is a large pool with lifeguard and a childs pool All in all great to relax in , no complaints, would certainly return The staff were also very attentive and helpful

With the exception of 2020 (due to Covid ), we have used this hotel for 12 years. There are a number of staff from last year and a number of new ones who are all very friendly and helpful. The original staff still at the hotel are George (the legendary barman), Despena (restaurant) and Hercules (night porter) who have become friends over the years and treat us as family. The hotel is all inclusive and provides excellent service, a rich and varied selection at meal times. We will, everything permitting, be returning in September as usual.

This 4-star hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool with spacious terraces, a rooftop Restaurant ''Fortetza'' for a dinner with selected gastronomic dishes, Cretan-Mediterranean flavours that will take you through the tradition of the region and a poolside bar where you can enjoy refreshing salads & drinks, various pasta dishes, cold beverages and exotic cocktails. The Akoya Resort in Rethymnon is situated about 1 hour from the historical Monasteries of Arkadi and Preveli and the well known lacy beaches of Plakia, Matala, Rodakino, Frangokastello. The resort’s central orientation guarantees the most beautiful sunsets in the area at large, as well as, amazing moonlight reflections for your eyes only! Architecture & Concept Akoya Resort has 113 rooms decorated in soft earthy colors, surrounded by beautiful gardens and wonderful olive trees. Each room has a furnished balcony , recently refurbished and equipped with all the necessary facilities for a pleasant stay.

Reviewed By SJ198932The hotel is more like 3* hotel, but had everyhting we needed for a relaxing Cretan holiday! The staff is very friendly and ready to help if needed, the place is clean, the beds comfortable enough (even with back issues), all-inclusive had a decent variety of different foods, pool is great and there are plenty of sunbeds available throughout the day, the overall athmosphere is really laidback and peaceful which we enjoyed, and the location on a hill means both a quite sweaty walk uphill from the stores, restaurants and beach, but also excellent views! You can see all the way to Rethymno and the sunsets here are breathtaking! We had one of the upper balconies but you can also see the gorgeous view from the bar deck and the restaurant terrace! Taxi to Rethymno was 14e, but there is also a cheap bus option if you walk to the ”main street”. We rented a car through the hotel, is was also pretty cheap and they delivered the car to the hotel and back, there is a free parking area. You can ask the reception for a beach recommendation, they will give you information on the free sunbeds available at a beach close by. Few things to improve would be the gym and its equipment. It seemed to be in the development still, with only two gym machines. Some weights and a couple gym mats would already go long way. Also, the A/C in the rooms is okay, you can sleep etc, but has to be on all the times you are in the room, so it doesn’t cool the room too efficiently. Te bathroom gets quite wet after a shower, somekind of a tool to help the water get to the drains would be useful. But these were just small things, the overall experience was great and relaxing, we had read all these bad reviews beforehand but were very positively surprised, we enjoyed our holiday a lot and would even consider coming back!

Everything was far and beyond our imagination in term of services, friendliness and great cooperation on every level! The personnel of the hotel worked with me for almost a year to stage the perfect wedding for my couple, accommodating every wish and need and every detail a wedding requires. The hotel itself is a grand and luxurious estate, highly maintained and well tended. The staff is friendly and honor Cretan hospitality to a maximum level. Everything was perfect, from the food to the organization and I will certainly recommend it to other couples in the future.

Reviewed By angelosbotsisWe really enjoyed our stay in this Hotel! The rooms were very comfortable and clean, the pool area is fantastic especially in the evening. The food was really nice and the staff was very helpful and kind, we really didn't want to leave the premises. The animaters kept our children entertained in the afternoon. We also found the small gift shop inside the hotel very convenient, from cigarettes to selected small gifts we didn't have to walk around the area for small shopping. Recommended for a nice holiday with the kids!!!

Its 41 rooms of Cretan traditional architecture artistically decorated, around a swimming pool and a lounge, bar, restaurant and a number of every kind of amenities, in the middle of a garden of palm trees of exotic flavor promise an unforgetable holiday time to our guests. Special attention has been given to the decoration of the hotel which was accomplished by the company founder's daughter, Marina Maravelaki, a succesful artist with international distinctions in the field of art. She worked hard to present an outcome which deserve the title of "Art hotel", while it is also by artists and common people highly respected and admired. Furthemore the whole operation of the hotel is run by the children of the founder in critical positions ( hotel manager, reception supervisor ) a fact that leads to high standard qualities of hotel cervices and hence maximum operation outcome

Wonderful and delightful people, perfect, peaceful and quiet location. Just few steps to the beach through a garden! We've tried so many fantastic tastes in the kitchen! Yummy! We could feel this real greek kindness and atmosphere. Each employee of this amazing hotel was always smiled, helpful but the best and the one and only guy on this ship is the bartender Giannis! So many hours spent on great conversations, rakija shots and stories told. Rooms are fantastic, with fridges 24/7 on, cleaned daily! I can't name you all by name but we would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and please be sure, that we will come back! See you soon! Ευχαριστώ!
