A perfect place to stay

I can't think of anything that wasn't perfect about this small hotel. Our room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. The staff are amazing, so helpful, friendly and efficient. We had breakfast in the 'sister' hotel where we were offered a huge range of delicious breakfast dishes. Staying in the old town was another great positive, close to the waterfalls and park. We can highly recommend this hotel and we hope that you would find it as wonderful as we did.

Alfa Hotel

Disorganized

It was difficult to pin down confirmation. Our friend in town walked by several times a week but the manager was always out. It took over a month for confirmation to be sent and they quoted us €45/night. They charged an extra €10 plus tax on top of it. Cleaning was on their own schedule. They arrived in the middle of my shower to take towels and came back almost 2 hours later. I had to drip dry and then use the hair dryer. The shower head holder was broken. The bed was uncomfortable and not set up properly. We had a thin blanket. The extra fleece blanket in the closet stank like musk and b.o. the fridge was broken. There were tiny moths all over. The balcony view was lovely and the sun coming in was gorgeous. I’ve had worse but I would have been less salty if they hadn’t charged extra.

One dreamy night.

Me and my girlfriend booked at Guesthouse Kastro for one night. We got a massive room with jacuzzi, a big balcony with a view and a warm welcome. We had the best dinner of our vacation at the tavern, and the manager even insisted we pay for it only tomorrow morning when we check out. Breakfast was also great and costed only 5 euros. I recommend this Guesthouse warmly to anyone who is on his way to Edessa or to Thessaloniki and wishes to have a calm village experience in Northern Greece.

Mr Vangelis and Mrs Eleni (Owners) were very cozy and friendly people, their behavior makes you feel like family! Totally hotel and rooms were clean. Their children, Sakis and Maria were more than friendly and helpful whenever and whatever that you need. Breakfast was very good with great variety of tasties. Lunch was great too, every day with another meal! Close to hotel there are Loutra Pozar, Edessa and Skydra if someone wants to have a nearby trip. oups...wrong choice!!!

There is a smell problem in the rooms - we had to leave balcony door open for about 3 hours to be able to stay in there. Did not put any of our cloths in the wardrobe as smell was stronger in there. Very old furniture in the rooms, looks like the owner hasn't bother to change them since the 50s....no kidding!! Bathroom was extremely old and there are no words to discribe the state of it! For the price we paid (85 euro) it was unbelievably bad! We have stayed in a lot cheaper hotels in the rest of Europe that were hundrents of times better than this one. My daughter started crying after feeling sick from the smell and wanted to move away asap. We were lucky it only for one night - NEVER AGAIN !!!
