A little run down
Reviewed By AndrewYewIn its heyday this is probably the top hotel here as they have a picture of Jiang Zemin visiting this hotel. But now it is a little run down but still quite comfortable. Actually the breakfast is still good while it may not be up to international 5 star standard.

Worth avoiding
Reviewed By Potato100Our visit started off quite well. Nice large lobby and grand looking entrance. Rooms seem quite big and we had 2 interconnecting rooms - rare for a local hotel. But there's where the decent stuff ended. My shower flooded the bathroom floor because it's designed with no curtain or partition and the drain didn't drain fast enough. The shower in the other room also flooded the floor. The electric curtains didn't work. The hotel engineer came up and climbed all over the window area and bathroom with his filthy shoes on. He explained I had to take the shower drain apart to enable it to drain faster. When going down for dinner several hotel guests smoked in the elevator and most guests smoked in the corridors. The corridors were noisy until after midnight with loud chattering and mobile phone ringings. There is a KTV in the basement and a few adult men and women wandering about. Not a great hotel for families. The service in the restaurant at dinner is snail-like in speed. It took us 45 minutes to get a spaghetti carbonara. Unfortunately if you are visiting the Shaolin Temple or evening show, you are quite limited in alternative accommodation in this price range. Good luck to anyone staying here. I definitely won't be back if I can help it.

Old hotel in need of maintenance

However, it is badly in need of face lift, the wall plasters started to peel at some places, the towels are old and worn, the bathroom is not that clean and well maintained. The plus points are value for money, free breakfast, friendly staff, surprised welcome snacks and yoghurts in the room. If is ok if you want to cheap, convenient 1 night stay. If you are particular about comfort and cleanliness, suggest you look for other hotels.

Reviewed By MscabsI am the organizer of a trip and clients of mixed ages stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The big surprise was the glass enclosed bathroom which allowed for no privacy at all. There are rooms that are more to American standards.there as well. Staff very helpful.

Gorgeous beds
Reviewed By JoFSaxonI must admit, the bed for me is everything. Two large queen size doubles. Huge room. Fab bathroom. Very handy if you have been to see Shaolin Monks as I just have. Not yet enjoyed breakfast but so far so good. Everyone round here loves neon lighting. That plus the huge pillars outside may be considered tacky but this is a lovely hotel.
