9 Things to do Good for Kids in Hebden Bridge That You Shouldn't Miss

September 14, 2021 Agatha Simes

This pleasingly peculiar market town is rife with old mills and flapjack-like "upstairs-downstairs" houses. Annual festivals, theatrical productions and parades pump the locals (and tourists) with life. Don’t miss the Hardcastle Crags or hiking along the gorgeous Pennine Way, and be sure to have a stroll along the inspirational Rochdale Canal.

Totally Awesome

Based in quirky Hebden Bridge and the historic Piece Hall in Halifax we are a retail shop selling high quality games, puzzles, toys, scooters, skateboards, kites, flying toys, remote control cars, drones and other cool stuff. We have a loyal following and appeal to local and out of town visitors. Our staff are always interactive, knowledgeable and friendly. Shopping at Totally Awesome is a unique experience with many of our products open on the demonstration areas. We actively encourage you to come along and get involved. We always enjoy showing many of our unique and interesting products, many of which you won't find in a high street toy store. We're proud to be different and you won't find many stores like Totally Awesome in the UK.

Turned up. Quick intro and temperatures checked and found a table. All well spaced. No crowding at all. Good decision about how many people to admit kept it busy enough to feel fun for kids. Table service for food. Staff were lovely and helpful. Decent selection of food and very reasonable prices, food was good quality and was very happy with it- some places clearly charge decent prices but the quality reflects every penny saved. Playtopia does provide decent quality food in spite of the price. In terms of the equipment it’s been well thought through. The toddler area is separately clearly from older children’s area which prevents issues with kids running in between. The main section for older kids has two good slides- one big conventional slide and one round and round side. Both were very popular with my son. When the inevitable toilet visit came I can report that the loos are very clean, and it was a nice touch to have the step for the kids to reach the urinals and the smaller toilet seat. Little things like that do show where people running a soft play centre are really considering how to make the experience as good as possible for children. My only note of caution would be finding the location. Sat nav to postcode wants you to go to the wrong turning but it’s just the next road along to get to the venue. There is tonnes of parking next to the building. Couldn’t fault it. Thought it was absolutely superb. Having sampled so so many soft play centres (and in fairness finding nearly all of them to be decent) this one might be the best I have visited. We will be back!

The hebden bridge canal has always been a focus for leasure. Whether your headed out in the direction of Todmorden or Mytholmroyd its the perfect way of having a long chat with your partner or friend and taking in the calder valley scenery. For nearly 4 decades i have enjoyed its gentle calm and still waters for walking or cycling. As its become so popular now i would try and use the tow path during the week if you can as in season the weekends are full of fishermen trying to land the behemoth of the lives.
