This is our favorite trail in Contra Costa County. The drive to trailhead is very scenic, however there is limited parking at trail head. The trail is paved and is great for biking, hiking, dog walking, jogging and enjoying the beautiful scenery including the occasional ships and trains below. No restrooms.

We enjoyed a very nice drive along the Carquinez Strait Regional Shoreline. This is a very fun area to explore and is off the beaten track. There are interesting older towns such as Port Costa, which was founded in 1883. There is a place to eat there. There are numerous places to take a hike Its a good place to also see wildlife and birds.

Museum dedicated to the founder of the environmental movement.
Massive fan of John Muir, so diverted here to see where the wonderful man spent a good portion of his life. It was an honour to look around, hear stories and meet astounding rangers. The nicest Rangers we encountered on our 6 week national park tour.

Work in progress by the city for more facilities near the entrance. Less crowded, trails along the shoreline, kites flying on sunny windy days, tons of wild birds, dock was redone nicely.
