We went for the first time late on a Friday morning during the December holidays. As mentioned in other reviews, we had reservations which was a smart thing since it was quite crowded. We had the crab and artichoke open sandwich and it was really delicious. The portion was quite large. I would go back just for this sandwich. My friend had a waffle which was light and tasty; ordered the lemon curd with the waffle, a nice addition. The apple pie was the only dish that was disappointing: it was a tad too sweet and the flavor was nothing special. Service was friendly and efficient; nice casual atmosphere in this Cafe.

The place is typically crowed and noisy. Service and food are mediocre. I've eaten here three times now and only because I love Thai food and downtown Martinez is limited in its options.

Great lattes! Both the traditional type, and some with very interesting flavors, are served. Where else do you get "mint" latte with a real mint leaf in it? There is also a great lunch menu. This is not fast food...it's all freshly cooked.
The staff are terrific!
Barellista is a highlight in old downtown Martinez, a hidden gem corner of the Bay Area, very different from the big subdivision/freeway/refinery image of Martinez. If you haven't been here, trust me...it's worth a visit. We deliberately detour off the freeway just to stop for a great coffee in a great, quirky, unique place!

This place is always busy and delivers good portions and quality. The staff is friendly and attentive. This visit I had the French toast special with eggs and bacon. The French toast was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside just the way I like it.

Benecia is a lovely place to stop for lunch on a return trip from Tahoe to the Bay Area. Lucia’s is located on the cute Main Street of this historic California town.

There is something for every taste on the menu including vegetarian selections, a great Rueben and fries and a variety of interesting, and tasty salads. All four of us enjoyed our choices.

The service was excellent, the ambiance was fun and I suggest a stroll following lunch to browse the interesting shops. I highly recommend this restaurant and will go again.

Very interesting coffee location. Industrial feeling in the decor that reminded me of the famous La Colombe. I didn't stay inside, so i can't really comment on the atmosphere but it looked very spacious, comfortable and laid back. I had a cold brew this particular visit, and it was very good.

Would definitely recommend for a chilled kick!

We stop here often when visiting. They are fast to get our order. They have a comfortable outdoor seating area. But, most important, they have a Clover machine. Today none of us had a Clover brew, but we were happy with our drinks and we will have Clover sometime.

La Tapatia Mexican Cuisine & Catering

We hadn't been here for awhile so decided to vary our routine from the Mexican restaurants we usually dine at.

The restaurant is brightly lit and colorful. Service was friendly and helpful, but I tend to have a standard order in many restaurants, which is a couple of ala carte items (chile relleno for one --- this time the second menu item was a chicken tamal). I never eat all the beans and rice so didn't order them.

Dining partner had a salad. $11. Tasty enough, but small. My two dishes were also quite small and $2 more expensive each than the tamales and Chile rellenos we frequently order at another restaurant nearby. This one was half the size. Also, way too much masa in the tamal, with not much chicken.

I left hungry, even with flan for dessert. Also, the traditional margarita was well made and tasty but also more expensive than the nearby equivalent restaurant.

Other than that, we enjoyed the atmosphere and wanted to enjoy our several dishes also but didn't feel the value was there, for the elevated price.

IT's a coffee shop, so start with the coffee. Each day that have several coffees of differing body, strength, acidity, etc., all described carefully on a blackboard. Each cup is brewed by pour method to order. The folks who own the place are very friendly, and really into making this a coffee drinking experience for their customers, not just grabbing cup of joe. They will gladly talk to you about where the beans are from and why they have the characteristics that they do. Very important for me to know is that the coffee is organic and fair trade.
Sit and discuss local politics on the weekends!
