Lerderderg Gorge

Love it here. Beautiful and peaceful, only a few minutes from Bacchus Marsh. An interesting track with stepping stones across a river, little rocky outcrops here and there, a chance to show your kids slatey layers of rock that they can peel off and you can walk through to a damn. Kids will love it. In the wetter months the water is beautiful and crystal clear. Please note the river is seasonal and will more than likely be dried up by January although there are a few waterholes dotted along the way. Definitely not suitable for bikes etc. It can get quite busy in peak times.

Rupert Vance Moon Reserve

Situated over the road from an amazing strawberry farm ( open seasonally), this reserve has a very easy walking track of 2.9 kilometres, starting at the shelters and returning to the same location; or just walk a little and turn back. It has an abundance of bird life, roaming rabbits at the right time of day, and follows the river for part of the way. There are plenty of toilets and barbecue facilities. It’s worth the trip.
