Little Gem in Wales

We stayed for 3 nights and were very pleasantly surprised at the standard of accommodation as we have travelled extensively in Wales and unfortunately have often been disappointed but not this time! Absolutely spotlessly clean (I am Mrs Fussy personified ?) but felt very comfortable and at ease at Pontyclerc Farmhouse. We had a downstairs room and it was blissfully peaceful throughout our stay. The owners were always helpful and on hand to answer any queries about the area etc. The breakfast table was also laid beautifully with flowers to brighten the start of our morning and the food was beautifully cooked. I can definitely recommend the porridge with delicious honey ?. All this at an amazingly reasonable price - win win every time. Thank you to all the family for making our stay so lovely.

Great accommodation and extraordinary staff

Reviewed By -Jeffrey-Blake-

We spent 1 week in this accommodation to explore the whole of South Wales via day trips from here. The hotel is centrally located in the village centre with a large and convenient public car park just a 3 minutes walk away. Our room "The Lodge" was large, spacious, quiet and clean at all times. The small menu of vegetarian/vegan food in the pub was incredibly tasty, very appealing and served quickly. The staff definitely went the extra mile and made us feel very welcome at all times. We can heartily recommend this accommodation unconditionally.

I've never been in a place like this!!! Rob and Sherry treat you like family, always worrying that you have everything you need. Their rooms are clean, big and with a great light. We stayed three nights for a road trip and the location is just perfect to reach West and South Wales... They advise you about places to visit or where to eat. The breakfast is home made and can change every morning based on what you prefer or if you have allergies. Everything was just PERFECT!

Tafarn Y Deri

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT as of MAY 2022!! Please disregard all reviews and photos prior to May 2022!! The Tafarn Y Deri is a beautiful pub-restaurant and events venue nestled in the picturesque village of Llanedi, serving delicious, traditional homemade food 6 days a week; a fully licensed bar offering a great selection of lagers, ciders, gin, wines and spirits, indoor and outdoor dining, and (from August 2022) a lovely B&B!! We pride ourselves on our food; our executive chef has 20+ years experience and enjoys nothing more than serving hearty, homecooked meals, specials, tasty dishes and delicious desserts. We are a family-run business, husband & wife, sisters, nephews and father, all getting involved in running this lovely place, we are of course child/family friendly and 4-legged family members are welcome in our beer garden. We are situated perfectly just minutes off J49 of the M4, and on a main road between the towns of Pontardulais and Ammanford. Direct bus route the X13 Swansea-Llandeilo has a bus stop right outside and we are nestled on the cusp between two counties, Swansea & Carmarthenshire. Despite our central location, the peaceful village of Llanedi feels very much in the countryside and gives the venue a warm, welcoming and relaxed vibe, just as the community as a whole are friendly and welcoming! As well as good food, drinks and service, we also have a thriving events calendar and have lots of exciting entertainment coming up this year! We only opened Tafarn Y Deri in May 2022, after it had been closed for a long time, and we feel so fortunate to be making a start on putting this wonderful venue back on the map!! Looking forward to seeing you soon!!

Not great

I’m really sorry to have to write this review. I had really high hopes for this pub because we are new to the area and it is local to us but I’m sorry to say I was disappointed. My food really wasn’t great, I had a burger which comes with chips, onion rings and salad but it was all so greasy. I know a burger isn’t exactly a grease free meal but I really felt as if it had just been pulled out of a deep fat fryer and chucked on the plate along with all the grease! And the chips looked good but were a bit dry. From reading previous reviews I can see that people are loving the decor but I personally don’t rate it (again sorry). I think it’s a bit mismatched with lots of random stuff, not the vibe I was hoping for from a country pub. The staff were nice enough. I know it’s only just opened and I should give it another chance but I don’t think I will be returning anytime soon.

The Red Kite Inn

Avoid if you like cleanliness

Reviewed By C2647AJrosemaryc

We booked a standard double room for a 4 night stay through Booking.com, the room we were allocated was extremely small and tired looking, there was no light shade just a bare bulb and the shower room/toilet was a converted cupboard. The bedding was fresh and there was a smart TV in the room, probably OK for a one night stay. We asked to upgrade to the deluxe room/family room at £25 a night more for extra space, as it was booked the day we arrived we booked for the following 3 days, this was far better as the shower room was probably the size of the standard bedroom. There was a sofa in the room enabling you to watch TV without sitting on bed, unfortunately the TV was small and only had local channels unlike the smart TV in the small bedroom, strange. The shower cubicles in both bedrooms were old and tired and could do with a good clean. When we returned to the room after a day out it hadn’t been serviced, so I checked the room info that I read before going out and it quite clearly stated that they pride themselves on the high standard of cleanliness but if we wish them NOT to go into the room let them know. I went down to speak to the manager and she first said, oh we’re not a Hotel we don’t service rooms, when I asked about the room information she then pulled out the new excuse of COVID even though everything else was back to normal. If they have now decided to be lazy and drop the practice of servicing rooms, they should A. Make it apparent at time of booking and B. Supply cleaning products in the bathroom, not everyone likes to go 3 days without cleaning their bathroom even if they do, had I known this I would have went to an AirBnB.
