9 Fun Activities & Games in Samcheongdong / Bukchon That You Shouldn't Miss

May 10, 2022 Emerita Lamoureux

Seoul is the business and cultural hub of South Korea, where skyscrapers tower over Buddhist temples. Take it all in from the N Seoul Tower, built atop a peak in Namsan Park. The teahouses and shops of Insadong give you a taste of Korean flavor, which you can further experience with a visit to the grounds and museums of Gyeongbokgung. UNESCO World Heritage Site Changdeokgung Palace is a fine example of authentic ancient architecture.

Had the best day doing a photo shoot wearing a Hanbok (Hanbok = traditional dress from my country of birth, South Korea) We spent the afternoon roaming Gyeongbokgung Palace with our wonderful photographer Hanwoo. Hanwoo also helps awkward people like me pose for photos and helps create the nicest shots! If you or anyone you know is in South Korea I highly recommend booking with Flowery Hanbok not only are they the nicest most welcoming people but they make the whole process so easy from choosing your Hanbok to getting your hair and make up done, they can also assign you a photographer. (Yes I made my husband participant!) ???? Special shout out to Miri and the lovely make up artist who were so lovely and kind. Couldn’t have ask for a better group of people to work with. This experience was the highlight to our time in Korea! Couldn’t recommend higher! Just a tip. Message their fb or Instagram to book at least a day in advance!! (They are so beautiful to deal with, you don’t be disappointed!) Pictures featured are by the photographer

I wore my traditional Hanbok from Hanbok Nam for 1 and a half hours, it was only 10,000 won! (Aprox 10 Usd). You can opt for more fancy ones or accessories but I was quite happy with the traditional one I had on. The surroundings of the Hanbok store was very cute and has lots of places to take photos. You can see signs of wear on the Hanbok but it was very minimal if you are thinking of wearing just to take a couple of photos. Highly recommend!

Staff is very helpful. First, they give you a place to keep your bags, which reduces confusion. They size you up quickly and lead you to the racks that hold your size. Trying on 2 Hanbok is included in the price, additional hanbok fittings are extra. If you want a petticoat, that is also extra (but I felt it was a nominal fee, and worth it). Once you're dressed, you go to the accessories room, where there are curling irons, and many hair accessories, like combs and flower crowns. Additionally, they had fans (very helpful on a hot day), and purses that blended with the outfit while able to carry your phone and money. You need cash for the deposit, and they will check your bags so that you look properly costumed. They are a few blocks from the palace, but it was not a bad walk. It is really fun to dress up like this. Totally worth it, and the women at oneday were very efficient, pleasant and helpful.
