Bembridge Trail

Five hours walking from Newport via Shide (where walk starts) to Bembridge,so you need to be a keen walker O.S. map needed as my brochure was inadequate.By end of walk, I was tired but exhilarated by this route, which starts with longish ascent to reveal great views of Portsmouth and Solent. Very varied scenery which will not disappoint if you have stamina. Would like to do it again next year.

Visited here for lunch and had a very nice meal of lasagne and frittata. The service was efficient and the staff friendly. We did venture upstairs into the art gallery but there wasn't too much on show at the time possible due to the Covid issues. The outdoor seating area was good with a pleasant view across the river. Overall a nice place for a meal.

Compton Beach

Reviewed By brackleyballet - Brackley, United Kingdom

Lovely beach on the south coast of the Island. Wonderful sandy beach, but be aware of the rocks in the sea at high tide. Parking available at the top of cliff, but try to get here early if the weather is good as it does fill up quickly. Unfortunately toilets were also closed when we visited, luckily we had no need for them, but could see it being a problem if visiting with young children.

We went for an evening walk along the river and came to see the original Spice Bus. Was free to get in to the marina, great to see, easy to take pictures and an on site bar to finish off the evening. Great spot for any Spice Girls fan. Lovely and quiet area too.
