Le Tombolo

Reviewed By robbygc - Toronto, Canada

Two days ago, we could not be able to cross to the Ilet Sainte-Marie. The waves were wild. One guy tried, but it was too difficult. He came back sad. Two days later, there were no waves. The tombolo was quiet. There were no waves at all. Even babies could walk without problems.all, all day on. That was amazing! If you cannot come to the island, come another day. This is a must to see! This is a must see! Wow!

Distillerie J M

A rainy day only made this a more beautiful and adventurous drive up the mountain. The distillerie is beautiful in not only in its design but the tropical landscape that surrounds it is breathtaking. A self-paced tour with free rum tasting to cap it off was a great way to spend the day. Unfortunately it wasn’t production time so we couldn’t see actual operation or get the scents of distillation but the tour was simple to follow.

Presqu'ile de la Caravelle

Very nice hike trail at Caravelle. I did the full route by myself, in Jan 2020. The hike is about 4 hours (including breaks). The trail was clearly marked and maps/signs on every crossroads. Basic trekking shoes / sneakers are needed. Plenty of water (1,5-2 litres) needed. It is best to go clock-wise (Take the left at the beginning). There is an amazing beach at the end of the trail, perfect white sand.

Rhum Saint James

Enjoyed the train ride, hugely enthusiastic guide leaping off to explain and show aspects and plants, comprehensive museum building and rum sampling counter, friendly staff, good toilets and parking, located off main road north side of St Marie. Gave more context to the historical background and slavery.
