The Big Drinking Fountain has been a monument since the 17th C. It was built in Ottoman Empire style as a charity place by the person in charge of the sultan’s kitchen circa 1660.The fountain on the square has rich stone ornaments – a unique ear-ring and a bird’s house. A spring of fresh cold water was led off along wooden pipes. Legend says whoever drinks from it will stay in the town forever.

Clear blue water, no swimming notices, it’s kept that way with chemicals. Pretty during the day. At night the fountains are lit and changed in time to music.
