8 Top-Rated Capsule hotels in Malaysia

May 4, 2023 Hana Mouser

Malaysia is a beautifully complex vacation destination, a land where ancient rainforests give way to multicultural city life. Capital city Kuala Lumpur is visually defined by the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, while in charming Melaka the vibe is more quaint and historical. Many of the country’s national parks offer opportunities for fantastic whitewater rafting, and the exclusive Sipadan dive site (off the east coast of Borneo) is among the best in the world.

Avoiding paying refund

Reviewed By larasiowa

I requested a refund as my flight was cancelled and was very kindly forwarded a refund application form and informed that the finance department would contact me. It has now been nearly 4 months and I have not heard anything so I contacted the hotel again to ask about this. I was informed once again that finance would contact me. I have asked how long it will take a number of times and they have stopped replying. I understand it is a difficult time for businesses such as this, but I would appreciate at least a response. I am owed a refund and I expect to receive one.

Locked locker provided also which no need worry your belongings with no where store but suggested for small/medium size only. Great ME-Time spent in own cube. You will have shared bathroom and it is acceptable clean level. Just to watch up that your amenities shower tray will be get wet if using standing rain shower head as it will spill all around. Wonderful discovery!

Had a 9-hour layover in KLIA2 and this was a wonderful and affordable surprise! Hot showers and a tiny, comfy bed space, and surprisingly, breakfast! P.S. there's a females-only area which you can request for at the front desk, just so you can feel more secure, but really the place in itself feels safe overall.

Good for a quick layover

Reviewed By jfctheang

I only used this hotel as a 3 hours layover in the morning, 6 - 9am. I need a place to get a bit of sleep and to freshen up. Few good things: 1) The hotel is near Pasar Seni LRT station, which is only 1 station away from KL Sentral (that connects to every other place). Hence it's convenient. 2) I do snore when I sleep. This hotel's "dorm room" beds are actually capsules. This gives myself and others more privacy when sleeping. 3) Lockers provided are big enough for a 50L backpack, or an 24 inch size stroller luggage. 4) Staffs are friendly and helpful. Few things to take note: 1) The place is generally clean, but could still be improved, as there were ants around my locker. 2) There are no elevators, only stairs. All in all good value, good location and nice staffs. Perfect for backpackers and for short layovers.

Short stay

We checked out of our hotel at the normal time (12pm) but our bus back to SG was at 10pm. Since we were both pretty tired as we had a late night before, we decided to just get 2 rooms in UFO Capsule Hotel to catch up on our sleep before taking the bus ride home. Affordable & clean. The toilets were also pretty clean. The female capsules were further up inside & the male capsules we towards the front. Supposedly separated by curtains but I guess it got a little bit too inconvenient of having to keep pushing the curtains aside so it was just push to one side. The inner of the capsules was ok, not too small. Just nice for me to be unpacking & repacking my backpack. There’s powerpoint & the switches for the light & your personal air ventilation is by the side so it’s easily accessible if you’re lying down. There’s a portable table too in each capsule. A place I would definitely consider going again.

I’ve check in to container hotel penang on 9th of March but once we check in to room, we realised that there’s a lot of small flies flying in the room and mosquitoes. So we requested to exchange the room, but even we check on the other room there’s the same issue. So we decide to check out and request for refund and the staffs agreed and promised that they will refund to us within 14 days. We feel very disappointed because we used to stay in container hotel everytime we visit penang.
