Orkdal Museum is a collection of old buildings (13 in total) and objects (over 4100) to document and communicate what life was like on a farm and a smallholding in Orkdal in the 1800s. The museum is located on the farm Oppstuggu Berbu, who was crown land in 1626. According to the old leather letter of the farm was in operation as early as the mid 1300's. The farm was in the family Berbus ownership from 1862 to 1984. On the threshing barn, which is the oldest building on the farm (about 1750), is approx. 60 horse figures carved with a knife in some of the logs. Later it came to several buildings, houses of Svorkasgarden from ca. In 1730, cottage Palstad, consisting of dwelling house, storehouse and barn. Sivertsen farm (from ca. 1870) was originally the dye, but is now used to the administration building for the museum. Sivertsen farm is furnished with kitchen and meeting facilities so it can be used for smaller companies. Otherwise, the barn is used for weddings, concerts and other cultural events. The museum is organized as a foundation, which the municipality has a representative on the board.

The Norway Building

The Norway Building was produced in 1893 at Strandheim Brug, Orkanger. The building was commissioned by the Norwegian Government for The World’s Fair in Chicago, and modeled after the stave churches of the Middle Ages. One exception: It has windows. The Norway Building stayed in USA for 122 years until it was moved back to Norway by volunteers. The best preserved building from the 1893 Fair.

Gammelosen

By the mouth of the river Orkla, Between industry and residential areas, you find Gammelosen. This is a wonderfull area for recreation, hiking and you find several bathing places here as well.

5. Geitastrand Church

Geitastrand Church is located in Orkdal municipality, and was built in 1859. It was when the first church in the village (formerly Geitastrand municipality). Land was separated from the farm Aastan on Geitastrand. Before Geitastrand church was built in 1859 to shore buildings take over the fjord to the Viggen Church on Viggja. Geitastrand listened to the gun as both a municipality and parish, and Viggen church was the parish church for both gun and Geitastrand. The church was expanded in 1941. In 1965 Geitastrand folklorist gun Parishes transferred to Orkdal Parishes. In 1950 to 1951 was undertaken a major restoration work inside the church. This led to some changes in the interior. Chancel arch was removed, windows and gallery were changed and the pulpit was moved. At the same time the church was painted inside. Geitastrand Church of the Directorate of Cultural Heritage listed as specially protected churches from their time. The church is still in use.
