Langzhong is a county-level city in northeastern Sichuan, China, located on the middle reaches of the Jialing River. It is administered as part of the prefecture-level city of Nanchong. Langzhong has a total population of 840,000, with 200,000 residing in the urban area.

Unlike many other artificial "ancient towns" that were built with cement in recent years, the old houses and courtyards in Langzhong are original. As a major tourist attraction in Sichuan, it has not been ruined by commercialization. You can still see local residents living their daily life there. You can even saw two schools and a kindergarten hidden among the old houses.
The waterfront boulevard was rebuilt in recent years. If you have time, walk from the tourist center northbound along the water. On the other side of Jialing river, the scenery is just magnificent.
If the weather happens to be drizzling and rainy, don't be frustrated. It would be a perfect time to wander along those narrow streets and alleys. With other tourists hidden in their hotels, you will own the quiet town to yourself, and enjoy the surreal feeling of travelling back to time.

What I loved most is the alley with the desk for the exams, where I figured myself being at work. Also, don't miss the hall with the "cheating" instrument, like the big undervest with all the information written small on it. Sounds familiar....

很多當地人都會推薦遊客去白塔看夜景。如果逛完閬中古城，從門口坐車到山上大概要幾分鐘而已，打的約十多塊錢（東、北門口坐車的話），不要被騙咯。山上人少車少，大概都要走下來，十多分鐘到有人的地方，晚上走路小心點。

三国志でお馴染みの豪傑、張飛が最期を迎えたのがこの閬中です。彼はここを治めていた間は善政を布いて民に慕われていたようですが、義兄弟である関羽が呉に討たれると我を失い、弔い合戦の準備の為に自分の部下に無理な命令をして、結局はその部下に裏切られて寝首を掻かれるという結果を招いたとされています。
敷地内には張飛の墓があります。墓と言っても成都・武候司の劉備の墓と同じように盛土がされた丘があるのみですが、この下に張飛の遺体の一部でも実際に眠っているかも知れないと思うと、ファンとしては涙を禁じえません。
また、ここに展示されている張飛の数々の逸話を表現した銅像は我々日本人三国志ファンのイメージに合致するカッコいい出来栄えで、見応えがあります。閬中古城内のいくつかのスポットに入場出来る閬中セットチケットは120元ですが、この廟のみであれば58元の入場料です。
