Topf & Soehne, an "ordinary business" of cremation and a brewery was asked by the SS to build crematoriums for the concentration camps, the money was good so with the soul of bureaucrats, technocrats and people with little or no background in humanities, a job is a job. The museum is well organized with the history and documents of the company and is a composite of the area and their cynical or real support of Nazis. It was a complex relationship between the company and the SS and the Communists, When we were there we were the only visitors, and purchased a book The Engineers of the "Final Solution" by the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorial Foundation. You have to ask for it. The museum of Topf and Sohne was something between The Banality of Evil and The Triumph of the Shill and asks how much of an act is wicked and how much is human weakness and detachment.
