Inverurie /ɪn.vəˈrʊəri/ (Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Uraidh or Inbhir Uaraidh, "mouth of the River Ury") is a Royal Burgh and town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland at the confluence of the rivers Ury and Don, about 16 miles (26 km) north west of Aberdeen on the A96 road and is served by Inverurie railway station on the Aberdeen to Inverness Line. The nearest airport is Aberdeen Airport at Dyce.

Take a warm jacket but its worth it! Very small car park but i suppose they built these before cars! Lovely countryside.

The maiden stone is one of those simple attractions that will enhance your interest in historic Scottish relics, like the stone circles that seem to abound in this part of the country. The folklore associated with this stone is fascinating and like many other ancient relics, subject to interpretation. But it's worth a stop just to see something as old as this carved stone.
