Wellington Ocean Sports

Wellington Ocean Sports offers sailing courses and experiences for all ranges of experience levels and ages. Get in contact to get out and experience the thrill of Wellington's Wind!

I signed up for a 'Learn to Sail' course which ran Tuesdays and Thursday evenings for 6 weeks. The instructor was very experienced and knowledgable and very good at clearly explaining all of the terminology and how to find our way around the boat. All clothing and equipment was provided and we were lucky with the weather so got out for a sail for at least 90-120 minutes of every session. Wellington is such a beautiful city and getting out on the water offers some incredible views. I'd highly recommend learning to sail for anyone who has moved to Wellington and Ocean Sports provide an excellent service!

Black Pearl Charters - Private Trips

Black Pearl Charters is a Wellington Fishing Charter company that provides recreational saltwater fishing trips departing from Mana and Seaview Marinas in Wellington. The Black Pearl is safe, reliable and cruising at 25 knots gets you to the fishing spots quickly and safely. Skipper, Matt Dobson has been fishing the Wellington area for over 20 years, run charters and been a top trout guide.

We had an awesome trip and Matt Dobson is a very good operator, nice clean boat very tidy machine indeed. Even though the fishing was slow and it was only a short 4 hour trip Matt did his utmost to get a few fish in the bin for us. Couldn't fault it really when the fish don't play the game, that's just fishing at the end of the day.

Boomrock

Featuring magnificent vistas and cliffs, the Boomrock area also features a lodge, car racing track, 3000 acres of farmland, claybird shooting range, golf course and 4WD all-terrain park. Set on a working farm and only a 6 minute helicopter flight from Wellington central, Boomrock offers premium hospitality at stunning locations.

Boomrock is a superb slice of pure New Zealand, it’s unspoilt and unpretentious whilst providing quality and authenticity. Spent an action packed morning with opportunity to go on the track with Greg Murphy, off terrain extreme 4WD with Dan Cowper, experience the new Land Rover Discovery, shoot clay pigeons and generally get away from it all. The weather wasn’t great but oh what a great reason to return again, the food was excellent though. The stand out for us both was owner and host Jonny and his team, super friendly, naturally engaging and completely professional in event management.

Mount Climie Track

Reviewed By johnnyenzed - Wellington, New Zealand

This is a good track for fitness. There's only a few flattter or slight downhill parts on the way up (which feel so good). Works hamstrings and calves on way up, and quads on way down 1 hr 15 mins up (ish) 55 mins down (ish) My 12 yr old son only whinged a bit on the way down, that's because it can be a little bit slippy underfoot On a good day the views are really good
