Afternoon Tea on the Lawn

Reviewed By derek61

We booked the afternoon Jubilee tea on the lawn. Weather sunny an warm. The setting by the river Lark is peaceful. The picnic is brought to you in a wicker hamper, includes sandwiches, sausage rolls, small eclairs, cheese and fruit scone with jam and cream and strawberries and cream. (see pics). The only problem was the is should have come with tea or coffee which we paid for but were not offered or actually seen over people with their drinks. This maybe an oversight, a bit better organisation is needed. That aside a first rate venue and grounds great place for a afternoon drinks, snacks or meal. Nice to see most of the renovations are nearing completion, some grounds work and bedrooms are left to complete I understand. What a change from the rundown hotel building and grounds they took over. All credit to the owners for that hard work.

Great food, great atmosphere and friendly staff! We visited for some food after a track day at Snetterton, really hit the spot before our trip home. Went for the chicken and avocado burger but could have happily tried the rest of the menu! ??

Fantastic place

This was our second visit, but this time we were in the Studio, gorgeous self contained accommodation with a kitchen and plenty of room. Very comfy bed and pillows and a great walk-in shower. Everything was super clean, and nice to have tea, coffee and sugar already there, plus Sian had put a bottle of wine in the fridge. Sian and her son Harry are such delightful people, nothing is too much trouble. It was lovely being able to sit in the garden in the evenings and of course, the gorgeous Ruby spaniel for company, she really is a sweetheart. We will certainly be back next year, we love this place?

Great place to stay

Reviewed By FulwoodPR2

We stayed 2 nights at the 'The Old Store', at the front of The Walnuts House and we loved it! It's very comfortable and really clean. The little 'touches' when we arrived showed the owners cared - flowers, welcome chocolate by the bed and basic supplies in the kitchen. The main room is large and spacious, containing a very comfy bed and sitting/dining area, it overlooks the private front garden. 'The Old Store' is quirky and definitely the place to stay for a relaxed get away. The owners are friendly, very helpful and they show you your park space on-site when you arrive. We're hoping to return soon!
